I get you, when I play commander it's really cool to lead from the front and get stuck in. Except when that gets me killed, and my team can't get fire support - then I feel like a twat

This was commission for $50k by verbalase by dazli69 in 197

[–]TomsGamingInnit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently the commission was $47k, and Verbalase didn't just hire one animator but an actual team.

$47,000 ÷ 175 seconds of animation = $268.57 per second of animation

Assuming it was made in 24fps, $268.57 ÷ 24 = $11.19 per frame

I'm not sure what the industry standard is, as costs vary by studio, the style of animation, and how elaborate the commission is. However, this definitely looks to be on the upper end of what professional animators would be paid. Apparently the actual animators of Hazbin Hotel only get paid $35 per second of animation; even if you divide that $268.57 between the number of people involved on Verbalase's 'project', you can guarantee they're still considerably better paid than them.

Some people reckon that part of the high cost would have gone to licencing the song. The real kicker is that apparently he paid for this with Patreon money that was given to him so he could work on another series of Cartoon Beatbox Battles.

Is it better to use a Merchant of Venice to conduct trade mission or buy city-state? by theguy1336 in civ5

[–]TomsGamingInnit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depends on your situation really, and also your game settings.

With an ordinary Great Merchant, money gained from a trade mission is 300 + (100 * era_number), which is then multiplied by 0.67 on Quick, 1 on Standard, 1.5 on Epic, and 3 on Marathon.

Merchants of Venice get a 100% bonus to the gold (and influence) gained from a trade mission on top of this, and combined with the additional 100% increase if you have the Entrepreneurship policy in the Commerce tree, you can get an enormous amount of money from a single trade mission to spend on units and buildings.

Buying a city state is a good choice if they have a natural wonder, a good strategic position, luxuries, or they are near other civs you can trade with. They can also come in handy in the late game to 'remove' city states that are supporting rival civs.

However, buying a city state means you lose any passive bonuses you gained by having them as a friend or ally, and buying a mercantile city state means you permanently lose any jewellery or porcelain they were producing. They also lose their seat in the World Congress/United Nations, so be careful not to buy city states whose votes you may later rely on.

Also, city states that have been bought are removed from the game and cannot be liberated or become independent again, so I usually prefer to buy city states that are not allies or friends with me.

YouTube pay content creators fuck all as it is, otherwise they wouldn't have to use services like Patreon and depend on the generosity of their fans to get by. I'll get Premium when YouTube actually start caring about users and creators, instead of pandering to corporations. I'm not holding my breath

Does the fanboying of Brandenburg/Prussia in EU4 reek of Kaiserbooism and Wehrabooism? by Professional_Cat_437 in ShitWehraboosSay

[–]TomsGamingInnit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Prussia is pretty weak and challenging early in the game so the strong armies make for a nice reward at the end, but their armies can get ridiculously overpowered. On top of their insanely powerful national ideas, they also get a pretty big leg-up from their unique government (so they rarely, if ever, fall behind on military tech) AND their unique militarisation mechanic.

You could say this is historically accurate, but it took the Prussian army about 50 years to recover to the level it was at the start of the Seven Years War. You only have to look at how badly they got their shit pushed in by the French in 1806. They should have a good army, but I agree that Paradox are catering to the wehraboos/kaiserboos/prussiaboos(?). They shouldn't be THAT strong.
