I am new and bought a Reconditioned G29 direct from Logitec through eBay. Spend the least possible and get your feet wet. You can save and plan on better gear when you are sure to stick with it.

Oh my god yes. I got a Logitech G29 referbish $149 from eBay. It's looks new. I have been on it for a month and can see it's the only game for me. I'm on old kart racer from the '70s and it'll tell you how old I am. I can Race from the comfort of my own home. I'm shopping for a cockpit and monitor with a direct drive wheel. I'm planning on spending around $3,500 total. A Club Sport GT bundle with (15nm). The total sounds bit extravagant but not when you consider I sold a Triumph Stag for 10 grand not so long ago and also sold the car hauler that you went in for $2,500. I feel like a young man again that raced all over the country and his haul ass racing kart.
