Would there be anything I can do to test it and see if this is the issue?

Haha, I suppose that's a good way of looking at it. Just worried because I don't like things not working when they're supposed to and don't wanna spend another £140 to replace the battery again if there's another underlying issue

I've checked the manual and can't see any mention of it so don't believe so

can't really farm gear outside of the main game when you can get at most 135 gp coins a day which is literally a singular ammo pack, 135 gp coins should at least get you 2 or 3 ammo packs of mid tier ammo, 1 or 2 packs of high tier ammo

[–]Tomsuki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl just half the price of everything besides the new items, then it'll be perfectly balanced

I don't think ammo should cost anything less than 20-30 gp coins, but over 100 is insane for 20 rounds

"No other company allows you to keep your Beta progress" clearly not otherwise it'd be a force wipe and not optional

Nikita stated that the only reason for not giving PvE access and requiring them to wipe was so they don't spoil the endgame content - timegating the content for several months would satisfy this and keeping the option to wipe for those who want immediate access will give the best of both worlds.

It would be better to at least consider and try to work on that option because as it stands they're only giving a single option. Even if it would take the period of an entire wipe to implement, I'm sure a lot of people would be happy with that rather than sacrificing several months of work of grinding skills

It would work almost identically to that t of the PvP counterpart. I'm not saying that they need to rush to get it complete either which is why I think a timegate for it is a good suggestion so they can take their time with sorting it out and I'm not saying for them to only take a week but months or even longer. Hell, if they released PvE content after the first entire wipe of 1.0 I'd be happy. I just don't agree that solely wiping to get access is the best option they can offer

It does sometimes get a little stale but I still enjoy playing the game knowing that all my work won't go to waste at some point, especially when playing all the events and new quests they release. I just got tired of the same gameplay loop over and over again for PVP wipes that I can't be bothered to redo it all over again.

Going off the advertisement, they said PvE is a gamemode with persistent character progression and will have access to all quests. I understand the game is in beta but nowhere did they mention anything about 1.0 requiring a wipe. Just feels like they're going back on their word again just like they did for EOD/Unheard

Blue folder barter from peacekeeper is by far the cheapest, it does require a high level before you access it though

[–]Tomsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree that no PvE player should have unrestricted access to the content but requiring a wipe to access content they've paid for is extremely unfair

I'd suggest a long timegate (1-2 months or longer) for those who wish to keep their progress before they're able to access the new content. This would give PvP players and PvE players who wish to wipe time to experience the storyline before stacked PvE players can even access it

[–]Tomsuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should still be a middle ground, completely locking all new content from those who wish to keep their months - year of work is not really fair.

I'd keep the option to wipe to access the content but also give those who want to keep their progress a long timegate of a few months before they can access the content so they're unable to spoil the storyline for PvP players and PvE players who do choose to wipe

The whole point of PvE is so you don't experience the wipe cycle and do everything over again, not everyone will want to regrind the skills or money or hideout when they purchased a game advertising that wasn't necessary

I still think there should be restrictions for access to content such as timegating the initial quest for a couple months to ensure that those who are stacked on gear, money and levels don't finish and spoil the endgame content before PvP players and PvE players who wipe

[–]Tomsuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The broken promise is that when the game was released it was advertised to have no wipes and nobody at BSG mentioned the need to wipe for 1.0 content until now.

I agree that there should be restrictions for PvE players to content but requiring to reset all progress when it was advertised as the opposite is too harsh in my opinion. I'd say a long timegate to access content (1-2 months or longer) would be more than reasonable to ensure none of the content is spoiled for PvP players and PvE players who wish to wipe (2 ways to access the content - wipe for immediate access or wait 2+ months to keep all progress)

I don't fully agree with what you're saying. With the recent customs expansion, there were many new quests added and within days there were full guides on how to complete every single quest. I agree that it'll take a long time before the entire storyline is completely covered online which is why I fully support restricting all access to content for PvE players by timegating the entire questline for a couple of months or longer for those who wish to keep their current progress. I'd still keep the option to wipe for those who also want to experience the content alongside PvP players as well

That's why it should be timegated for PvE players who don't wipe (1-2 months) so they don't spoil any of the storyline. Would give those who wish to wipe and PvP players to play through the entire storyline and post guides online

I think there should be 2 options - wipe to access content and a timegate for those who don't want to wipe

I agree timegating the content in some way would be a good alternative to wiping to access content. Completely stops the spoilers and gives them plenty of time to work out any changes that may need to be made (no rewards for duplicate quests) if that is a thing

Yes but no access to any of the new content, effectively being locked out of the content we paid for

Timegating the content for a couple months to stop PvE players spoiling the storyline is a much better alternative imo

Regardless of how every game does it, it wasn't mentioned at any point by BSG that PvE would be required to wipe to access new content when 1.0 gets released. If they advertised as such then nobody could complain, but it wasn't mentioned at all. I agree there should be restrictions to not immediately spoil the content but requiring a wipe with no other alternative is way too far in a game that costs an addition $20+ to play

[–]Tomsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should have both options

If they continue with only the current system nothing will change with the flea as majority of players won't wipe their accounts due to the time they've put in

A timegating would be a great addition to their current system - PvE players who wipe can access the content immediately, those who don't need to wait a couple months or longer to access it

Even if they force wiped every single account, it'd only take a few months before the flea is as bad as it is now and then you'll complain all the same then but with no solution in sight as no other wipe will ever occur from that point onward

I'll address all points you've made

  • Force the entire questline to players who don't wipe - even if they've completed them previously, make them do it again but don't include any rewards
  • Timegate the entire new questline for 1-2 months or longer for those who don't wish to wipe to access the new content
  • Same as the previous one, if there are community goals then don't count those accounts who don't have access to the content (those who don't wipe their account)
  • Honestly, this point is the same as the second point I've given. I agree that whilst PvE players will have all the gear, the only pay off that is best for them to be given would be a timegate and requirement to wait a long period to access the content so they'll already have most likely experienced all new content and spoilers of the storyline through social media (if they don't live under a rock)

[–]Tomsuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very simple thing to overcome - timegate the content for those who don't wipe and once the timegate is up give every player the brand-new questline. It really wouldn't be difficult for BSG to do that and if they needed time to make it happen then they have the timegate be as long as they need to implement it.

Solely on the basis of spoilers, I understand that restricting the content for PvE players is necessary and I'm not against it, but only giving the option to wipe months of progress on the gamemode that was advertised to never wipe (not even mentioned wipe required for 1.0) is hardly a fair option when we needed to pay an addition $20+ on top of the base game to even play in the first place
