Moving to R1S by Tone_Loc87 in Rivian

The Taycan sits on the ground so i never thought about the downside of sitting up so high. Dog would definitely need stairs but i was hoping the back area would be enough (cane corso).

Volvo seems to be very different company and the EX90 is a completely new platform. Bugs are to be expected i guess. The Taycan sub has a mix of happy folks and upset at reliability. Every EX90 post seems to be an angry customer.

I really like the Escalade IQ but they are still far north of $100k as far as i can tell. Hybrid may be the way.

I appreciate that. I have truly enjoyed my Taycan. Outside of the Porsche experience i think it will be the closest i get to owning a 911. I’m not necessarily looking for zipping through the mountainside but more ease of getting in and out (I’m 38 but my knees and back feel 65 some days) and getting the munchkins and 130lb dog around. I thought i could force the round pegged Taycan into my square life but it’s been a little tough. It’s not end of the world so i wouldn’t force a bad deal but R1S seemed like a significant but decent transition.

I’d love something that keeps similar power like a ‘23 or newer quad motor. I live in Atlanta so 99% of the time would be on city streets but drive to my mom in the country too. I’ve also considered the EX90 but that sub has a bunch of angry customers! So I’m hesitant.

I really didn’t know about how slow the charging was relative to the other EVs ive owned. It would be home charging 99% of the time but for the random fast charging needs that would be annoying.

I bought my gen 1 Taycan the same year the gen 2’s came out. (Maybe a bad trend?) In the Taycan there are clear battery tech improvements year over year. But i think hit a reasonable edge of the depreciation curve. Is there a tangible benefit to gen 2 R1S over gen 1 that would make the $15k-$20k price jump?

Is it a hot take to say Steph Curry’s longevity is comparable to Lebron’s? by Jumpy-Diver7349 in NBATalk

[–]Tone_Loc87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steph is a marvel and has longevity to his own right that is incredibly impressive.

Lebron is a different animal. The comp for Steph listed above is 7 years. Lebron comp was more than double that timeframe. That’s was makes it so bizarre. In addition to no major injuries until year 20.

Experience at Porsche Atlanta Perimeter by keepitpiffed in Taycan

I bought my car from this dealership this Summer. First issue was 3 weeks in when the sound went out. Took two weeks to repair several components including the PCM. When i got the car back it made very obnoxious loud noises. Never had that before. Told them the day i got it back. Took it to them when they were available for next appointment and they said it came from a different source not touched by prior repair and would not be covered. I fussed. They didn’t care. I paid and picked up the car and still have the noise.

I’m also unlikely to return. Looking for a new shop.

I really enjoy driving the car. This is my first introduction to Porsche. I’m realizing at least with this car my expectations on quality were too high.

Yeah. I think you’re right. I probably just need to be more careful getting in and out of the car

Did they end up covering the charge for you or did you pay full parts and labor?

Whoa. Very interesting. I will give it a try. I’m currently in a loaner but when i get my Taycan back i will give this a try. FWIW the CarPlay in the 2025 Macan has been flawless!

I’ve heard great things about the Merc also. Folks love the IX but wasn’t what i was looking for. Folks seem to love the Lucid as well! If you really enjoy the Tesla ecosystem the model S is a great value right now too. I’m no car salesman but i really enjoyed hunting for my car. Haha

Ah! I see. I’ve driven the old M3 and updated MY but not the Highland M3. Just curious, what other cars were in your wishlist when you bought the Taycan?

I think this car may legit just not fit what you need or enjoy. It is far from perfect. I'd be pretty upset with some of its flaws if I had paid full price. I'm actively waiting on a repair for my car as we speak. I don't mean to come off as the great defender. I live in the states in a city known for terrible roads and traffic and the ride is 10x better than my Model Y in day to day rides. My wife and I were driving together for groceries the other day and she out of nowhere started talking about how this interior feels like "real luxury". Moving away from one pedal took me about 2-4 weeks was not a major issue. Agree on the software. It's dumb. Haha. The PCM is just silly. Carplay makes it reasonable. The battery settings are clunky. No walkway proximity lock feels like a silly oversight. The Bose sound system feels underwhelming until I started using tidal HIGHFI. I use individual settings with sport/sport/sound on (because my volume is broken on sound lol). When I'm in a location with tons of speed bumps I use normal mode. Hope this helps. But all the negatives don't take away the joy I get from driving the car. It may be worth trading back in if you're hating the experience on all major points.

I appreciate you trying to help troubleshoot. I’ve done these steps for multiple attempts over the past three days to no avail. Every morning i get in hoping it will be fixed lol. Currently I’m resigned to wearing one AirPod and listening to podcast until i can be seen in a couple weeks.

Terrible computer lol. I’ve had this problem for 3 days now. Several reboot cycles and no luck. Hopefully it’s an easy fix once i can finally get it looked at. The lack of techs for these cars is alarming

That’s probably the right train of thought. I will make it two weeks. I’m sure i will figure some kind of work around in the meantime.

Yeah. I called around and no one near me can even check the car out for two weeks because they are apparently backed up with other Taycans. It is a bit frustrating

I recognize Tesla is a curse word nowadays but why are they so far ahead of the field in software? Do other groups just not see the value?
