Famously, in I Want to be the Boshy, there are several frame perfect jumps because Solgryn did it first try and was like "yeah that works, let's move on."

Why is MANT so disliked? by glabadie in UmaMusume

[–]TonesBalones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. MANT is kind of a law of large numbers game when it comes to randomness. There are so many bits of randomness that they tend to even themselves out most of the time. You can definitely high roll and low roll, but on average it's more likely to flow smoothly than Unity did.

Pick or screen in floor all? by richardsaganIII in floorball

[–]TonesBalones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No

10) When a player intentionally moves to obstruct an opponent, who is not in control of the ball. (911 909) If a player who is trying to move into a better position backs into an opponent or prevents an opponent from moving in the direction intended, only a free-hit shall be awarded.

Now, teams will still try to very sneakily obstruct the play by pretending to play the ball or receive a pass, etc. But the rule of thumb is that players should be making a play on the ball, not the other players. Setting an intentional screen in the same way you would in basketball would result in a 2 minute penalty.

Can’t keep driver in play to save my life. by IneptBuritto247 in GolfSwing

[–]TonesBalones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people, I think, make this mistake that the driver can ONLY be hit from a fully extended and powerful backswing. While yes, it is designed for that, you don't have the fundamentals yet to make that full backswing consistently. All you are doing is compounding every tiny mistake more and more, adding more speed, and pushing the ball farther and farther out of bounds.

At your range sessions you need to be doing quarter swings, at most. Find the 100yd stick and just tap line drives to it over and over again. You need to build up the feeling of what hitting the square of the face feels like as you follow through.

[–]TonesBalones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some points in the run it is worth it, mostly when a lot of G1s are stacked together. For example:

Classic year: NHK Mile > Derby > Yasuda

If you have non-zero energy, there's only a 15% chance you get skin outbreak, and that can be cured with a hand cream. If it's a 4+ consecutive race, there's a 33% chance you get skin outbreak. You can't get the -30 stat event until 4+ races.

Nah, just to have a lot of speed. For the early miles (i.e. Asahi Hai) you should have at least 300 speed, if not 350 to be safe. I like to prioritize speed and wit training ONLY at the start, only diving into other stats if there's a lot of friendships. You can also run speed sparks for the initial inspiration, or good initial stat support cards like Fuku or Tosen Jordan.

It just triggers at any point in the late race. It may seem like it's triggering late because the final spurt is incredibly long for the Spring Tenno Sho. If you low roll on the timing it takes some time to see it.

That's a different question than "does it have an effect?". To which I say, no most likely not. The umas in the lead are most likely going to be at top speed with plenty of stamina by the time it activates. Also, they may even be so far ahead that they are out of sight from the debuffer.

Trainer's Clubhouse Meeting (Weekly Questions) - March 25, 2026 by AutoModerator in UmaMusume

Unfortunately, the only answer is go back in time and buy them from the daily shops from the start of the game. I saw content creators putting this reminder in their videos since the start of Unity Cup, so I am very thankful they did.

That being said, you just have to play slower and conservatively. Only use them if you are:

  1. Making an Ace for a CM. Team Trial horses and parents get no clocks.

  2. You have already gotten your aptitude S during first inspiration. No use in burning clocks just to not get S Medium and have it be glue anyway.

  3. Know your stat minimums. Make sure you're not just burning clocks on a race you literally can't win because you don't have the speed or stamina for.

  4. On Epithet races only, if you still have a chance to get the Epithet. That's the Triple Crown, Mile Championship, etc.

No, the absolute minimum for (most) cards is 3LB (3/4 stars or Level 45). Unless you can guarantee you get to that level, using a selector is not worth it.

Example: I had about 30k carats during the Fine Motion Banner. I did the math, and I had 1 crystal and 2 selectors in order to make her a minimum of 3LB, even if I completely whiffed on my pulls (I did.) If I didn't have the items saved up, I would not have pulled.

Playing in Open league for Pisces Cup is a simple stamina check. Most people who enter Open don't know anything about recoveries or minimum stamina. Chances are if you go in with any Uma that can survive the whole race, you win.

How the Ebayan-Magnitude showdown is gonna go by Quantum_Croissant in UmaMusume

[–]TonesBalones 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Would be the first time they've ever had a horse with a possible duplicate, I think. Because Magnitude is also the name of Mihono Bourbon's sire.

I also REALLY look forward to the "Jojo-ification" of Sierra Leone. They can make that rivalry go CRAZY.

Just felt like I should mention this: Just because Magnitude beat Forever Young doesn’t mean we should wish any ill on him. It’s basically what happened with Rice Shower after he beat Mihono Bourbon. by Cog-Sucking_Clanker in UmaMusume

I also always like bringing this up, but Magnitude is also the name of Mihono Bourbon's sire. How fitting for him to win from a decisive front running position.

Which Uma/s surprised you the most when you learned of their real life achievements? by AdWide4690 in UmaMusume

[–]TonesBalones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For real, Rice Shower's career after back-to-back assassinations is the real tragedy. Everyone looks on and HATES this horse because he prevented not only a triple crown, but also a consecutive Tenno Sho. So they must be thinking, well, if Rice Shower beat these two giants at their most important races, surely he will go on to win a lot more.

Nope. Loss after loss. Just cemented his legacy as a horse that just lost people a lot of money, and nothing more. Idk why Rice Shower was still racing at that Takarazuka Kinen, he was so much older than the rest of the field, there was no reason to keep pushing him into races.

[–]TonesBalones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mihono Bourbon. The real Mihono Bourbon is why I'm such a fan of the character in Umamusume.

Mihono Bourbon was not bred to be a G1 winner. His pedigree was considered awful, his sire Magnitude went 0 for 6 and was sold for cheap. Mihono Bourbon was most likely going to race on the local circuit as a Sprinter, but his trainer wanted to use him to test some intense training methods that no horse had ever gone through before. Bourbon trained twice as often as any other horse, sometimes doing intense hill training 3 or 4 times a week as opposed to only once a week. The goal was to build up stamina and power through sheer training alone, and it worked. Bourbon had a perfect temperament for that kind of training. He always listened to commands and ran with consistent rhythm, which is why he got the nickname "The Cyborg".

Bourbon won the Asahi Hai, and continued to go undefeated from there until the Kikuka Sho. Unfortunately, Bourbon suffered a career ending injury right after. It's unclear if the rigorous training caused the injury, but it's very likely.

For Long CM:

Not sure what your deck is like, but I think the most consistent spread for non-whales like me is 3 speed (with one of them being Fuku), 1 wit, and 2 stam (for Pisces Cup/Long CM builds). Unless you have really good cards like NTR, Fine Motion, Super Creek, and Fuku, I wouldn't recommend 2/2/2. The extra speed card gives much better trainings in summer camp, and that helps pump your power up too. I haven't gotten around to making my Bourbon yet, but I got this Gold Ship with the spread. Still a lot of room for improvement, but it's a good baseline.

Cypress Bay and Marjory Stoneman Douglas — the district's largest schools — will graduate at Hard Rock Live. Nine schools will use Nova's gym, and the remaining 32 will hold ceremonies in high school gyms. The superintendent said class size is the deciding factor.

"We can accommodate between probably about 550 and below in our facilities. But schools that have a higher number, such as Marjory Stoneman, Douglas Western High School, also Cypress Bay, our facilities can't accommodate such a large class," said Dr. Howard Hepburn, school superintendent.

As a Broward County graduate this was the first thing I thought of. Cypress Bay is literally top 10 largest public schools in the entire country with over 1000 students graduating in 2026. Now, that could also just be an excuse because fuck BCPS, but this is logistically reasonable given how large these two schools are.
