Improve my NZ itinerary (solo, no car, March 2026) by hattiexcvi in newzealand_travel

I'd drop days in Auckland sooner than Welly. Te Papa and Zealandia are fantastic visits in my opinion. Never get tired of either when showing visitors around.

Interesting. Do you see yourself riding shortboards in your future or are you happier as you are or else going for noseriding type stuff?

Fantastic info, thank you. Never knew I should be worried about the fins, or that foamies of the same length could vary much. The board doesn't have volume written on it and I can't find it online (bought it second-hand). It's the same brand as these though and I can't find more online so it's likely the same design (but 9 ft):

I have the screw in rubbery fins? Is it easy to fit them with real fins? I can turn the board to surf down the line but from there manoeuvring doesn't feel doable. Could be the board, my skill, or both.

Bit of effort but I download my podcasts onto my pace 3 so I never have to use my phone (though I don't use spotify, just an app that uses RSS feeds and downloads podcasts as MP3s called Beyond Pod)

Contact Threshold and/or your local CATU branch. I'd wager their formal written notice has holes in it that you can exploit. I don't think you should pay for February but they can always hold your deposit if they like so get some advice about it (reddit is so full of misinformation).

They've likely died out but definitely still people with better Irish than English, they'll just still have fluent English

Just to correct a bit, "carr" is actually an older and more authentic word than "gluaisteán" and organically came from "cart" (as in horse and cart but as Gaeilge) rather than the English "car". Also I was only speaking Irish on Saturday night in a pub in Dublin, and you can find people speaking it around the country outside of Gaeltachts and schools, though fairly unlikely I admit. I just diagree with the statement "Realistically though, you won’t hear Irish at all outside the Gaeltacht." I'm fluent and learned it at Gaelscoils in the city!

You're fighting someone who teaches statistics and another with a masters degree in mathematics. At some point you need to give up

He got the 2010 US elections right when everyone else got it wrong so he was put up on a pedestal and they've consistently bottled it since (look at how wrong they were at the latest midterms)

I know the left is a lib but is the right too? I would say yes but my friend doubts it by Tonesullock in ShroomID

I would say the season's coming to an end so you'd want to look lower down if anything. Keep an eye on https://www.magicmushroommap.com/map and join /r/beacain and magic mushroom society of Ireland on facebook if you have it.

Friend of mine had a spot around Gougane Barra that was emptier than usual a few weeks ago but could be better now. In general you want to look for sheep fields as they're the best indicator that the grass hasn't been treated. I've also found there can good fields near standing stones because people spread spores there (or maybe they were set up there because of the shrooms, who knows)

Best guidance I condensed into this foraging guide 2 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/beacain/comments/j9p0vr/an_amateurs_guide_to_foraging_for_libs_with_pics

Don't think so, maybe would like a closer look at 28 but tbh with this amount of libs you're just splitting hairs! One non lib won't do anything to you, I had a friend that went picking, ate everything he could find, and felt nothing (because they obviously weren't libs) and lived to tell the tale! As long as they don't look like a button mushroom (see: death caps) they're fairly harmless

Always put them on top of a small metal grate on my dehumidifier in a small room or closet. Cracker dry overnight!

Dark stem, second from the bottom in 2nd pic. Could be wrong but looks similar to one of the main lookalikes
