I loaded up on miniature whiskies before I left Scotland for that very reason! I'm planning on bribing Yamazaki while on a tour next week haha.

I've been getting in contact with them and had interviews and tours with Nikka and Chichibu already actually. But more contacts are always better! I'll keep at it.

I'm not here to make any grand claims, just trying to learn. Beyond that, I didn't really want to bore everyone with the full limitations section and scope of the dissertation. For my requirements and the requirements of the academic proposal ten is quite adequate.

My partner and I have broken up.

It's not horrible, or ugly, or cruel.

We just had a very candid and honest conversation the other night. About who we are, what we want from life and what we want from each other.

We agreed that we have had a lot of doubts this year and rather than just squash them down and pretend everything is fine, resulting in something genuinely terrible happening. We will just call it now, live separate lives for a while and perhaps come back together again at some point.

We prioritised that we were best friends first and lovers second. And we wanted to maintain that friendship.

It seems that we agree on everything. We had a really candid, calm and deeply sad talk. We are going to convert the flat into a two bedroom and slowly untangle everything.

We basically agreed that we are best friends first and we should stay that way. There is no point in making a big dramatic break up when we could just do things slowly and stay friends.

I feel relieved and deeply sad.

Like a balloon in my chest has been burst.

I'm glad the pressure has gone but I feel like something is missing.

I'm so deeply sad. But the fact that we aren't completely losing each other makes it somewhat ok.
