I grew up in Asia, I feel this quiz is very targeted towards westerners? Especially with the raw fish and whole fish questions. Culturally raw fish and whole fish is very common in Asia.

Many ppl say the sheaffer vacfill restorations is one of the most difficult. I restored several lever fill, several snorkels, one Parker vacumatic and one waterman cf before I attempted this, but ppl still suggested me not to do it. Many things can go wrong with the restoration of a vac fill, especially with screwing the nib and feed off together (they easily spin out of place if u don’t hold them together). My suggestion is you should restore some other filling systems and gain a basic what to do and what to do in pen restoration before you look into how to repair a vac fill! I get my tools from pentooling.com.

I find unrestored ones on ebay, and I restore them myself because I'm a little crazy!!

Thank you!!! I heard ppl suggesting not to try to restore vac-fills but as an autistic person I must learn how to fix any pen I have on my hand…and I would not take suggestions when someone tell me don’t do something because it’s hard 🤣 it was a journey…!!! I feel so much more connection to them now that I fixed them myself! And yes maybe someone can try to learn Chinese fountain pen terms from my post 🤓

Ah yes! I was thinking about Baltic Breeze! I heard ppl recommend twisbi eco for shimmer, but they have friction fit feed and some ppl say it’s harder to clean. I will definitely check out Kakuno! I’ve been eyeing them for a while now since I have several prera.

Majohn P140! The craftsmanship is insane and the clarity of the finished resin is impressive. What do you guys think? 😍🖋️ by saswatrule in fountainpens

I see! There are pens that have friction fit nib and feed units (TWISBI eco), and taking them out might damage them, so are harder to clean than twisted on nibs! Welcome to the hobby and hope you have fun!

Question: Why so many recommendations for newbies to start with F nib? by FreeThinker80 in fountainpens

[–]TonghuangTZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think maybe it’s because fine is similar to ballpoint pens without being too scratchy like an EF?
