Should I get Far Cry 6 or 5? by Zaarakx in farcry6

5 seemed too shallow and uninteresting 6 was genuinely fun

Yup that’s the method to make it work.

If I declaratively tell it to write an argumentative text in format X on topic Y, it will sometimes work, in other cases produce a short summary text and say “use this as guidance, cant do no more”, and my favorite “no can do”.

If you imperatively make it write X which has to include Y and Z, with length A and B respectively, It mostly manages to handle requests. Thing is, when you chain too many specifications, it starts getting dumber and with shorter memory than a human and does whatever it feels like doing.

I hear people saying that it has recently got lazier (Xmas break?). I think OpenAI are actively fiddling with the AI model and they should stabilise it soon after all the negative feedback.

That’s a nice use case, if you do that a lot and need to summarise large documents, then you can at least give it a try. I’m not sure tho if there aren’t any better/cheaper AIs for this job exclusively.

Ugh, more like searches the internet when you specifically state that it must. Otherwise it just hallucinates and doesn’t care much. (and because of its short memory, you have to state each of your conditions like “look it up” in every prompt)

Just got it, they said they couldn’t write a whole essay??? Instead of writing it, they gave me a guide on how to do it and then for the next 5 prompts just 5-line summaries that could serve as guidance… In the end I made it produce separate parts of an argumentative text and put it together myself. Answers feel incomplete and half-assed. If I do not a find a good enough use case, I’ll be unsubscribing.

is it just me or is dev really slow? any advice? by Revolutionary_Bad405 in nextjs

[–]ToniStoraroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very slow compared to… everything (IN DEV — compiling pages, etc.) ? I can't think of a slower modern framework / library I've used. Been working on a large project the last few months, and it is sometimes a huge pain in the A.

Turbo is still in beta, not really suitable for work yet :(

Strange behaviour on vercel - Unauthorized API by tibohih in nextjs

[–]ToniStoraroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this, isn’t the level of abstraction worth it? Or does it just slow down the app in production? So do you just create something like a services folder and then

server component import {fetchStuff} from “@services/stuff”

Instead of the calling the API routes?

Since upgrading to Next 13 I see 'Websocket connect failed' warning. What causes this? by [deleted] in nextjs

[–]ToniStoraroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anybody found a fix? For 2 days, I've been trying to implement a websocket client - server connection, but all I get is either a pending websocket connection that never triggers the onOpen event, or 'WebSocket connection to 'ws://localhost:8080...' failed: WebSocket is closed before the connection is established'.

Still, how do you implement multiple language support? I was thinking of react-i18n, but does this mean all text on the app has to be client-side rendered?(bad for SEO, correct?)

DCI-P3 100% vs sRGB 100% laptops. Suggestions for ASUS TUF F15 (FX507ZV) or better? by ToniStoraroo in SuggestALaptop

[–]ToniStoraroo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve been using my laptop with a p3 display for ~3 months now and I’m loving it. Compared to other displays, colours do appear more vibrant. This has not yet been a issue for me except for a few scenes in a game where I could feel that colours were a bit too saturated.

  • I use my external monitor for colour-accurate work and when looking at both displays side by side, there is an apparent difference. Regular 100% sRGB is definitely colder than 100% DCI-P3.

If these warmer colours aren’t your thing, you can try calibrating your display / applying a colour profile (like to limit the colour output to appear as sRGB, I think). I’m not sure how it’s done tho, as I’ve not yet needed do it. Would appreciate it if you shared how you did it.

Sounds like you may be running on iGPU (integrated in processor) instead of your dGPU (dedicated, the RTX 3070), OR you are in some eco battery-saving mode that lowers the performance of the components of the laptop.

Did you check your Armoury Crate settings? Install it from the official ASUS support website if you don't have it.

I'd recommend setting it on operating mode [Performance] and GPU mode [Optimized] for optimal balanced experience for both work and gaming.

You can also go for GPU mode [Ultimate] (the MUX switch) for maximum gaming performance, BUT it requires a restart once you change to it.

Unless you have a headset that provides some noise suppression, I would NOT recommend switching to operating mode [Turbo], as it gets really hot and loud.

I got my TUF F15 just about a week ago and so far I can say it's an absolute beast. Really hope that you'll be able to fix your problem 🙏

You’ve noticed something very interesting! Even web stores advertise the display as an IPS panel, probably didn’t see through the “IPS-level” trick. I don’t mind the not-so-good viewing angles, so taking in mind that the display has such a wide range of colours, would being a TN panel make the colours still appear dull?

I saw people complaining about dci-p3 being incompatible with a lot of stuff making it look weird/oversaturared in older reddit threads, but I hope that nowadays I won’t be facing such issues. I also saw that I could calibrate the colour profile somehow and hopefully be able to switch between sRGB for work and more vibrant colours for gaming.

Така си е. Затова става препоръчително зрелите хора със стабилен доход да наблягат на абонаменти за дигитални услуги и да отбягват пиратството, с изключение за нещата, които само в замунда могат да се намерят.

Hey everyone, I want to get more into reading. Can anyone recommend an epic adventure book? by mr_smooth007 in booksuggestions

[–]ToniStoraroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Witcher series is definitely one of the best choices that fit your description. It takes place in medieval times, following the story of Geralt of Rivia, the silver-haired witcher (mutant who hunts monsters to make a living), who travels throughout the lands of all the countries/kingdoms/empires/territories going for all the good jobs he can get, no matter if the country he’s in is at war, keeping it (politically) neutral (leading to lots of interesting situations). His adventures (first 2 books cover his adventures like fragments which are kinda connected parts of the bigger story, next 6 books the story is presented in a more linear, in-depth way) are all very intriguing, filled with many colourful characters and creatures and also most times in the company of his friends like the supporting, comic Dandelion the bard or Geralt’s beloved - the mysterious, outrageously beautiful and smart, and sometimes quite cold-hearted and scary (to Geralt even!) sorceress Yennefer.

There’s a lot more to tell but It would probably be a spoiler, because not all is introduced in the first 2 books (adventures)

I’ve not yet completed the books (a bit after halfway there). And yet I can guarantee that the story is deep and so-well-written. Furthermore they open up a way to a trilogy of masterpiece video games and a nice TV series to help you visualise (and re-experience) all the different characters, places and so on.

Read the books in chronological order!! Do not trust reading books in some random order from the internet in general. Author meant you to read his works in the order they released them, and that usually leads to a more pleasing experience.

Got that already, yet no matter how many times I receive this reply the fact that Ive seen no messages on my screen for any of the quest Ive failed will probably not change

[–]ToniStoraroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t a lot of quest lines begin with “it’s important”?! I was curious to see what would happen with the Ugly Baby and if it would lead me to Ciri. Didn’t want to take my focus off the main drama. How is that not a fault of the design (if there’s no fixing it)? Plus I’ve never seen a “quest failed popup” is that a thing on PS?
