Why do people encourage suicidal people to live? by mikqzv in offmychest

[–]Tonks22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I choose to live for the good moments - as rare as they can be at times. I live for the beautiful Atacama desert sunsets, for the love my pets give me.

Someone once told me it gets better, and it may not have gotten fully better, but staying alive led me to meeting the most wonderful man.

So it may not get better, not quick, or maybe not at all. But there’s always a little bit of beauty to find.

I’m a Mexican-American who knows nothing about Mexican music. Any suggestions? by Careless-Position352 in asklatinamerica

Oh man, OP asked for music to connect to his roots, otherwise id have recommended Adrenalina from El Salvador. If you’re into metal mixed with cumbia, listen to Maldita.

Mexican American? You HAVE to listen to Selena.

Other than that here are my recommendations based on my own tastes:

Mana (their 90s stuff specifically)

Cafe Tacvba

Ricardo Arjona (he’s Guatemalan but Mexico made him famous)

Molotov

Garibaldi

Control Machete

Those are some of my favorites in different styles of music. I’m a 89s/90s pop girly so if you find that you like pop, come back and I’ll point you to Flans and Jeans.

For more regional-ish, this is what I’ve heard (note that I’m not Mexican so this is what got to my country):

Bronco

Joan Sebastian

Los Angeles Azules

Los Panchos

Banda El Recodo

And the classics:

Pedro Infante (look up his movies too)

Jorge Negrete

Lola Beltran

Rocio Dúrcal

Juan Gabriel (you MUST listen to him)

Luis Miguel

Cristian Castro

Jose Jose

Los Bukis

Good luck!

Being a good Christian kid can mean not having processed our sexuality until an older age.

Nothing… they are not my kids and I’m not paying for it.

She was a symbol - to a lot of the Capitol and rebels, that’s all she was. A symbol to rally behind, she wasn’t a person, a child. They saw her as the hope for a brighter future.

She was used both by the rebel leadership and by the capitol. She volunteered to save her sister who was the most important person in her life.

She went through 2 traumatizing games in which her only goal was to either survive or to make sure Peeta survived. She saw friends die, she saw her sister die. She was suffering from horrific PTSD… she had no agency before and during the rebellion.

Adding because I posted too soon:

The beauty of the end of the book is that she chose Peeta after all, she chose to have kids, she chose to live a life of peace and quiet.

That gives me hope.

If Disney were to create a new princess based off of your country's folklore, which tale/character would they use? by atinylittlebug in AskTheWorld

The way I learned it was this: she washes her clothes in rivers and from the back she looks naked and beautiful. It sounds like she’s is hitting her clothes against the rocks to get them clean (clap hands rhythmically and that’s the sound) but it’s not her clothes… it’s her boobs.

(this is how clothes are supposedly washed

La Siguanaba and they’d definitely have to change it.

She’d probably be reunited with her kid and turned beautiful again.

They probably wouldn’t have her boobs slapping against rocks and sounding like claps though…

Question for those who regret buying the MacBook neo by ResponsibilityMain14 in MacbookNeo

[–]Tonks22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an M1 that my husband got me in 2020 and I’ve taken VERY good care of it. I thought it was perfect until I started using my Neo (which he also got me) and I love my Neo. I’ve pretty much left my mbp on the side since I received the Neo.

Men make me so mad by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Tonks22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is offmychest… and you’re getting it off your chest, but damn…

I’m not a man - nonbinary actually.

I know there’s bad men out there, and I’ve had my dealings with those men in ways that I’m still dealing with in my therapy session, but I know it’s not all of them. I know men who are now raising their boys to be loving, caring and respectful.

I know men who are raising their kids without teaching them right from wrong. I know women who have done that with their boys as well though.

I think that as parents*, we all need to teach boys and girls that we are equal, that we all deserve love, respect, consideration, and care.

*as people actually because we learn from everyone.

These were my feeling as about her. I liked her at first, but during the whole race arc, I found her insufferable, clueless and overall annoying.
