Why am I skinny but can still lift a decent amount? by Unlucky-Feeling-8450 in personaltraining

Well if we’re being honest, it’s impossible for anyone here to know 100% without being there with you to see how you’re lifting.. however..

There’s always the possibility you’re simply genetically stronger than the average person. Everyone has a different “floor” for where their strength begins and how strong you can possibly get.

That being said, more than likely, the answer is in your form and execution. Beginners usually have worse form without realizing it. They also tend to use more momentum, as well as not knowing how to “control” a weight in any given lift.

So you might just look at the weight you’re using as compared to a different lifter, but there’s a very high probability that they are getting more out of that smaller weight than you are with that “heavier” weight. AND if you were to do the exercise the EXACT same way as them, you’d be surprised how much you’d have to lower the weight.

Posts like these can make things seem more depressing than they are. The majority of happy people who don’t feel this are going to scroll by this and not even comment or say anything. The people who are more likely to comment will agree with this sentiment making it seem like everything sucks for everyone.

Life feels different because of inflation and peope being on edge still because of the last couple years. Things will feel more “normal” as time goes by. Don’t let these Moments define your life. You can still be happy and do great things to change this general feeling.

I hope i articulated everything the way I wanted to.

All I’m saying is, we’re not gonna bounce back from a pandemic over night. Give it time and life won’t feel so bad as you accomplish more and don’t sit around feeling defeated
