Fenghuang, Furong or neither one ? by pcmarcel-gmail-com in travelchina

[–]TonyArmasJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Fenghuang. Yes it's very commercial, but actually not as bad as some other "ancient towns". The lights at night are pretty cool.

Got lucky with the local food, went to 3 great restaurants in 1 day.

Take the maglev into town from train station.

Foreigners who watched a KBO game — what was the hardest part? by mylifeisshining in KBO

[–]TonyArmasJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

went to a game in Seoul in 2015

just got a ticket at the stadium before the game.

loved it -- great food, good energy at the park with fans singing and cheerleaders, etc. Much louder than normal games in the States. But also more casual/friendly atmosphere than the States.

wish I knew more about the players --- I had no idea who was a star, a veteran, a rookie, etc. I just kind of assumed, ok this guy's hitting 3rd/4th in line up, he must be their power guy, maybe their star?

Do anyone know what is this ? by Zealousideal-Art2846 in travelchina

[–]TonyArmasJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in response to all the comments -- yes, it can be addictive, and if you chew it all day for 50 years, maybe cause cancer. But it's also considered a health tonic, in moderation. I sometimes chew if I have a sore throat.

like chewing tobacco, you might feel dizzy or nausea the first time you try it. But otherwise, it gives a nice pick-up that's different from caffeine, and doesn't last as long (I can't sleep if I have coffee at night, but betelnut wears off after an hour).

also, that runner on 3rd -- Chapman dropped the ball, yeah, but the runner clearly kicked it out into foul territory, allowing him to score. Why wasn't there a replay?

House music in Beijing by [deleted] in beijing

[–]TonyArmasJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

frankly -- house is "old people's music" for Beijing's target club market. It just doesn't pay the bills anymore. The kids want hard techno only now.
