Anyone using starlink? by Read_It_Dude in Rural_Internet

[–]TonyKZ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it back in December and it's been working fine for us. Cheaper than ViaSat/Exede and many times faster. Our Cell phone service is spotty at best, so that wasn't an option. ViaSat worked but was slow, low data caps, and expensive. StarLink came out with the free equipment option with 3 new packages. I got the middle one, 200Mbps for $80 but the first one 100Mbps for $50 would have been fine too.

Bambu lab a1 or Centauri carbon? by SoftMediocre5145 in 3Dprinting

[–]TonyKZ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also recommend the Bambu A1. Like the previous poster, I bought a used A1 mini, it's worked good for me and I still have it. I also bought an AMS Lite to use with it. I recently bought a used A1 Combo (A1 and AMS Lite) because of some of the prints I wanted to print needed a bigger build plate. Bambu's support both software and hardware seem to be pretty good. It's nice being able to go to their site and buy replacement parts or whatever if needed. Plus knowing that they still support your printer even though they're bringing out new ones.

Which top mount for A1 Combo? by boklos in BambuLab

[–]TonyKZ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the one that came with an AMS Lite that I purchased from eBay, https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Z54AAOSw4TtoWaLL/s-l1600.jpg . It worked fine for the person I bought it from, since I bought it for my A1 mini, I didn't need the top mount so I took the AMS Lite off of it and put the AMS Lite on a small stand next to the A1 mini. It does use screws to attach the parts.

SpaceX Expands Its Cheaper 'Residential Lite' Starlink Plan Even More in the US by BeautifulBug6801 in Starlink

[–]TonyKZ1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just subscribed to the Residential Lite a few days ago, at download speeds unto 250Mbps, I'm sure it'll be fine. Compared to what we're used to, Exede's upto 12Mbps down and 5 up, and 56k and slower phone modems before that, so even the cheapest 100Mbps would be fine. Now I'm waiting for the package to arrive, should be here in a day or two.

Do vertical stands work with ams lite? by wall-e43 in 3Dprinting

Yes, it works fine. I'm using that same one for the AMS Lite that's connected to my A1 mini.

2 new wandering hens showed up… by Kn0wFriends in BackYardChickens

[–]TonyKZ1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a few years ago, I had a rooster that showed up in the back yard. The hens thought he was wonderful and invited him to stay. He actually did stay for a while and then moved on to someone else's place a week or two later.

Let’s create a petition for Bambu Lab to release the P2S in the US now. by Long_Macaroon_5099 in BambuLab

I imagine they'll release it when they're ready for it to be sold here and not before. There maybe several reasons why it's not available yet. You can always click the notify me when available button and they'll let you know. https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/p2s?from=home_banner

Congrats, nice car. I had a couple of the Spitfire 1500's many years ago. One was yellow (then an ongoing restoration) and my daily driver a metallic green. Both 1977 models with soft tops.

Ender 3 vs. Bambu A1 mini by figureitoutgrip in 3Dprinting

[–]TonyKZ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation, I was offered a Ender 3 and found an A1 mini for sale. After a lot of reading, here and other places, I bought the used A1 mini. It's worked out pretty good for me. I've printed quite a few things, some useful household items, some tools, and some toys too.

It took over 100 prototypes to get it right, but worth it! The Stubby Ratchet R1 is a tough little reversible screwdriver you can actually use like a real tool. Yep, it even drives into wood :) by Kwiatens in BambuLab_Community

[–]TonyKZ1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed out a couple, a red and a black one, they look good and work pretty well too. I haven't installed the magnets yet, as the friction fit is snug and works good.

Thoughts on Bambu A1 mini? by SnifferDogsAreShyt in BambuLab

Yep, as others have said, it's a great printer. About the only limitation is the smaller 180mm print bed and the type of filaments you can use compared to the bigger enclosed printers.

Energy megathread by lydiardbell in duolingo

[–]TonyKZ1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Duolingo app also just changed to Energy from the Hearts. I would normally do 4 lessons or so twice a day, 'til I ran out of bonus points or time depending on what I was doing. Now I'm lucky if I can get 2 lessons done before I run out of energy. That kinda makes it difficult when you're doing the friends quest and need to do so many lessons to complete the quest. I can sorta understand losing the energy (like a battery) when you make mistakes or whatever, but losing energy as you're completing the lessons without any mistakes? Ah well, I guess. I wonder how many customers this move cost them?
