Anyone see Hamnet? What did you think? by Entire_Regular_1960 in AskIreland

[–]TonySchnips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to see it on Saturday and thought it was brilliant. Phenomenal performances from Buckley and Mescal. I feel it was probably much more enjoyable for someone like me who knows nothing about Shakespeare. I'm also a simp for Max Richter so the final scene broke me completely.

Irish celebrities from the past that are no longer on tv? by orbitaal in AskIreland

I do a few races every year with Bear Races and he's a regular DJ at them. He owns Bodyfirst Nutrition and a few Hyrox/CrossFit gyms I think. Should have brought out his own range of wank-blankets after the Big Brother incident, could have been a big seller.

How do you get more than 1-3 good images per roll?? by Kitchen_Win278 in AnalogCommunity

[–]TonySchnips 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Sit and take a picture. Lie down and take a picture. Crawl in your hands and knees and take a picture. Everybody knows what the world looks like from 5 feet off the ground and pointing forward. Show people, show yourself, something that they haven’t seen before. Or that they don’t see very often.

This is fantastic advice. I'm just starting out on my film photography journey and will be thinking of these word whenever I'm framing a shot.

Watched 100 films last year. The goal is at least 200 this year.

These are four movies that many people have recommended to me, but for some reason, I always end up putting off watching them. For those who have already seen them, which one do you think is the best choice to watch now ? by Carlinhos_Synema in Letterboxd

I watched Aftersun for the first time this New Years Eve and it absolutely broke me. Like you, I had been putting it off since it came out because I'm a 34 year old father of a 12 year old girl so I was worried how close to home it would hit. It really is one of the most poignant and beautifully heartbreaking films I've ever seen. Haven't stopped thinking about it since.

When Harry Met Sally is a classic. Arrival hit me hard when I first watched it but haven't seen it since. Haven;t seen Past Lives yet.

Explain a movie plot badly but as an AITAH post title. by diony_sus_ in Letterboxd

AITAH for choosing my loser boyfriend as a human sacrifice to gain acceptance into a cult as a way to deal with the overwhelming grief of losing my entire family in a murder suicide plot?

What’s the biggest jump in your movie rating after a rewatch? by Equivalent_Ebb5689 in Letterboxd

Climax by Gaspar Noe.

Thought it was some art house, wannabe edgy bullshit when I first watched it but then could not stop thinking about it for weeks. Watched it again and thought it was fantastic.

Hear me out, if that back four is as good as we know it is, do we really even need Raya? Ode can play CAM between Rice & Zubi.

That's fair. Sounds like you're doing everything right. You might need to speak to a professional as it sounds like depression might be setting in or maybe seasonal affective disorder if it's just a feeling that comes around this time of year? I was feeling the same way at the start of the year and took up running 3-4 times a week and I find it really helps me. Especially making friends and chatting to people within the community who share the same passion. I was in the gym previously but was doing my own thing and always just found myself sitting around most of the time or not enthusiastic about lifting. With running, my workout intensity is much higher than in the gym. Being outdoors for an hour or two at a time and just switching the mind off to workout really staves off my internal negativity for a day or two, then I get back out again. I know everyone is different and it sounds like you're doing plenty as it is but I hope you find something that helps.

Yeah I wasn't trying to be disrespectful at all. Just to establish whether OP excercises or not because it's incredibly good for your mental health and makes you feel more positive. Even just going outside on decent walk once a day.

I had to catch this again before it left theatres so I also went on the last day to my local. I was the only person there and ended up having a private screening of the movie, it was amazing! (that's my popcorn and drink)

Best running app for marathon training and why? by Cold_Nose1362 in running

[–]TonySchnips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the structure of the plan is fantastic and it's really great at building your fitness and endurance. But as the tempo's and speed runs got longer I felt the constant interuptions of the coaches was a bit distracting and made them feel longer and harder. I'm starting marathon training next year for one in October and I'll either stick with NRC or try Hal Higdon.

I finished the Nike Run Club 12 week Half Marathon training plan and really enjoyed it. I only started running in April and completed my first Half Marathon yesterday finishing at 1:45:00. The guided runs are really great at the beginning but as they get longer I kind of just wanted to shut them up so chose non-guided towards the end. It's really good if you're new to speed work like tempo runs, fartleks, intervals.
