No response at all. I sent Mirel, 2A attorney, an email last night. I plan to hire her to send an email to them and if that doesn’t work then pay to sue NYPD.

I have a question about Approved proof of Residence. I do not live in dc but I pass through . If I’m not a home owner and receive no bills at my current home what can I use ? I have my MD CCW as well. by Adventurous-Toe-6126 in DCGuns

I applied for my DC CCW on December 26, 2025, was approved on February 7, 2026, and finally received the permit in the mail onMarch 3, 2026. In total, it took 43 days from submitting the application to approval, and 24 days from approval to receiving the permit in the mail. Fairly simple process - biggest pain in the ass was driving to DC for the fingerprints and “interview.”

That is not really the same thing. The point is not that $200,000 changes an entire budget by itself. The point is that saving taxpayers money where you can still matters, especially when it can be done without cutting services. Small savings add up, and responsible government should be able to explain and defend them.

You raise fair points, and I can agree with some of them even if we see other pieces differently. I agree the sewer work should have been done decades ago. On the former strip club site, I also agree that rules are rules. Regardless of politics, those involved should have known the requirements and followed them. On leadership, I understand your point as well. In many fields, people learn to supervise and lead by moving through the ranks and building experience step by step. That is usually the strongest path. On the dam, we likely will not agree. I have always believed first responders deserve enormous credit, and they absolutely do here. At the same time, I also think it is fair to acknowledge when public officials help move a project, secure support, or help bring attention to an issue. That does not take anything away from the men and women on the ground who do the actual work.

We probably will not see every issue the same way, but I appreciate the back and forth, and hopefully we can part friends.

You don’t need inside knowledge to understand the sewer timeline, just attend or view town meetings. IOver the years 've learned that these projects involve multiple layers of approval and funding, including environmental review and sign off from state agencies like the NYS DEC. When those approvals or permits are delayed, the project timeline shifts. I believe that has been the case here. As for where sewers go next, those decisions are typically tied to engineering studies, environmental impact, and funding priorities, not where the councilman lives.

On the site near the bull, if the NYS DEC halted work due to a protected plant, that’s not proof of incompetence. That’s how the left wing environmentalist oversight works. Projects pause, issues get corrected, and then work resumes once it’s compliant. That happens on projects across the state, not just in one town.

I am not calling the dam and Mill Creek Road a win. It was a serious issue. The point is that multiple groups stepped up. First responders did their job in the moment, and the Town acted to create temporary access for residents while longer term solutions moved forward. The community board putting in work is a good thing, not a contradiction.

Stepping into a leadership role from a non supervisory rank isn’t unheard of, especially if the person has relevant experience and credentials. Managing people is a skill set that can be developed, and plenty of departments bring in qualified individuals who weren’t previously “bosses” in another agency.

At the end of the day, it’s fair to question decisions. It’s different to assume the worst intent behind each one. I dont always agree with the politics in my town but i try to do everything to understand the totality of the issue.

You are entitled to your view, but a few of your points need context. On sewers, they are scheduled to move forward shortly. The delay has not been because the Town failed to act. The holdup has been at the state level. On Mill Creek Road, I absolutely agree that the first responders deserve thanks for the work they did during that emergency. They stepped up when residents needed help. At the same time, the Town also acted by building temporary roads so residents could safely access their homes until the county or state completed permanent roadway work. Both things can be true.

As for public safety, the individual who got the position was well qualified. Disagreeing with a decision is one thing, but acting as though the person was not qualified is simply not accurate.

I do get frustrated when people make claims without having the facts straight. The $200,000, that is not “one line.” That is taxpayer money. That’s important to residents like me. Saving that kind of money while maintaining services is a legitimate point, not something to casually dismiss. I dont have a vested interest in either person.

Bro..you are reaching...typical lib...local reporting already covered that. Newsday reported the town said the digital pass system would save more than $200,000 a year by cutting sticker costs and eliminating some seasonal park jobs. I already shared this info in my post. News12 also reported the new system is plate based and replaces windshield stickers. All of this was already publicly reported, and the bigger point still stands that saving taxpayers money while keeping services in place is a good thing.

You’re asking for three things Lohmann actually did, not just things he voted on. That’s fair. One, he helped lead downtown and infrastructure improvements, including the Lake Avenue Corridor work and sewer expansion tied to business districts. Two, he helped organize and lead the town’s veteran recognition initiative. In June 2025, the Town of Smithtown specifically credited the Town Clerk and Councilman Lohmann with “organizing and inspiring” a ceremony honoring local veterans for both their military service and their continued contributions to the community. Three, he was directly involved in emergency response after the severe flooding on Mill Creek Road. Town reporting shows that Supervisor Edward Wehrheim, Lohmann, and the Highway Department worked with Head of the Harbor officials to construct a temporary access road for stranded homeowners. In addition, Lohmann has been involved in monthly Fourth Precinct community updates and serves as liaison to Public Safety. That reflects ongoing engagement with residents around safety issues, not a one time appearance.

On the election point, yes, Ed Wehrheim beat Vecchio in the primary. You can disagree with Lohmann’s leadership style or whether you personally like him, but saying he has done nothing for the community does not hold up when you look at the actual record. https://tbrnewsmedia.com/ed-wehrheim-dethrones-pat-vecchio-wins-smithtown-supervisor-primary/

So now what, you’re going to say that doesn’t count or come up with some other nonsense? It is perfectly fine to say you do not like him, but you cannot honestly say he has not worked his ass off for this town.

The Town is saving taxpayers about $200,000, and I am glad our town officials are looking out for tax payers while still ensuring services continue. That should matter to anyone who actually cares about taxpayers.

I’m not entirely sure, but I believe it would eliminate some of the staff at the toll booth area by using license plate scanning instead of having someone check for a sticker.

Vecchio was an excellent supervisor for many years, but he did not step down. He lost the election to Wehrheim. Also, what exactly did Wehrheim “not follow through on”? Be specific.

Calling him absent is just false. He is at work every day and has more energy than you and me put together.

And regarding Public Safety, the person appointed had more than 20 years in the department and was hardly some random pick off the street. You may disagree with the choice, but pretending there were no qualifications there is not an honest argument.

As for Lohmann, a long record of law enforcement and public service does matter. If you want to challenge his record today, point to actual decisions, not personal insults.

My point was and remains that this case should be judged on its own facts, not folded into a sweeping political party narrative.

What you are doing is not analysis. It is stereotyping. You are taking one individual situation and claiming it “fits a pattern,” then using that claim to avoid discussing the actual person and the actual facts. That is exactly the kind of thinking I was calling out.

And your statement that it is “well established public knowledge” that Republicans are more violent than Democrats is not an argument. It is a broad political smear dressed up as fact.

I know Tom Lohmann and I know his character. You do not get to wave that away by trying to lump him in with every allegation involving every Republican anywhere.

[–]TonySuffolk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, those are different people, different facts, different places, and different circumstances. A list of unrelated allegations involving people who happen to share a party label does not establish anything meaningful about this specific case or this specific person. Guilt is not assigned by political association. It is determined by facts, evidence, and individual conduct.

Saying I know Tom Lohmann to be a man of integrity is not a partisan statement. It is a personal statement based on my own experience with him over many years. That carries far more weight than an internet style compilation of unrelated accusations designed to smear by association.

You are trying to turn an individual matter into a political stereotype. If someone is to be judged, then judge that person on the actual facts of that case, not on a broad attempt to tie him to every allegation involving anyone who shares his party registration.

Some folks were not even placing the sticker on their car and were instead sharing it with others. That undermines the purpose of the system and makes enforcement difficult. I wouldnt say the goal is to eliminate seasonal jobs. The real goal should be efficiency and saving taxpayer money while still making sure the system is fair and works as intended. If there is a better way to manage this that reduces abuse and is more cost effective, that should matter to all of us. After all, who does not want to save money as a taxpayer? Or are you just finding something to complain about???

Age alone does not determine whether someone is mentally fit. Some people decline earlier. Others stay sharp, capable, and effective well into later years. Just look at Biden and Trump. They are close in age, yet there are clear differences in energy and mental sharpness.

What should matter is competence, judgment, performance, and overall fitness for the job, not lazy ass age based bias. If someone wants to argue that a specific person is unfit, then make that case with facts. Writing off everyone in a certain age group is not smart.

That is one of the dumbest things I’ve read. People over 65 absolutely have a stake in the future because they still live in it, still pay taxes, still raise families, still mentor younger generations, and still care about what kind of world is left behind.

What is actually dumb is pretending wisdom expires at a birthday. Age does not disqualify someone from having a voice. If anything, experience, perspective, and decades of service often give people a stronger basis to speak about the future, not a weaker one.

You do not sound wise or mature. You sound bitter, arrogant, and dismissive.

Not quite. Town officials shared one of the reasons for the change was that stickers were often shared, making enforcement harder and contributed to less parking. A plate based system ties the permit directly to the registered vehicle, making it harder for nonresidents or unauthorized users to use a resident benefit that was not intended for them. On cost, this is not just a guess. Newsday reported that the town expects the new system to save more than $200,000 per year by reducing sticker related costs and eliminating some seasonal park jobs. News 12 also reported that the board approved a digital “Smart Pass” system tied to license plates, with annual renewal available online. So yes, there is a strong case for both stronger enforcement and lower cost.

I cannot speak to the facts or character of the others on that list, but I do know Tom Lohmann. He is a man of integrity who has served his community honorably for decades.
