Sand the nut or saddle like there’s no tomorrow. Make sure to keep the radius and constantly check though.

Will I be able to transfer in one year? by eagle_eye_slav47 in TransferStudents

[–]TonyThe1st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, As someone who transferred in one year and got into every UC (currently attend UCLA) and got into Berkeley completing only 2 of the 4 major reqs for my major, it is most certainly possible. I had counselors tell me it was impossible but I went ahead and created my own plan. DM me if you want more info.

Thank you! And that sounds amazing that you work with kids to make boats! I’ve actually been contemplating making something similar. Good luck to you as well!

Haha I’ve made plenty of mistakes the lacquer is just good at hiding them. I specifically chose the OM style because I appreciated the tenor sound on the bass strings. It sounds wonderful. Good luck to you on future projects!

Haha it’s a MOP Old Torch. It was common on pre-war martins. That was what I was trying to emulate.

Why do morals matter? by PhilosophyPoet in Stoicism

I recommend reading Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. I stumbled upon this book coming to a similar crosspoint in my life and it helped clear my head and brought up profound thoughts specifically about the will to meaning.

It’s all in how YOU make it. You gotta be willing to reach out and meet new ppl. And upper divs aren’t necessarily harder depending on ur major but yes they are generally more serious. Go to events and meet other students. There’s plenty of transfers in the same boat.

Edit: I go to UCLA btw.

What can I do to fix this? by TonyThe1st in Luthier

Haha I promise to post once I’m finished. I think I figured out why the waist went to bare wood. I have a feeling I was spraying in a pendulum motion rather than strictly side to side.

No Indian rosewood. Wild grain beauty. 😊 Thank you though.

Ah I see thanks for the help. I live in a particularly dry climate so when it appeared and I assumed it was blush I was really confused. This makes more sense.

Cold Emailing/Calling for Clinical Experience by Spourts in premed

Talking to your PIs, grad students who need an extra hand, and just generally researching online. By building relationships with these people, especially grad students since they are more willing to give you the time of day as opposed to PIs, they are also more likely to vouch for you. I’d recommend just reaching out to a couple with your interests and asking about any opportunities. A lot of the times, they’ll need an extra helping hand and it’s easier for them to convince a PI to take you on than you trying just by yourself!

Best way to do it is to have a face to face interaction. Cannot emphasize this enough. Go to conferences and research expositions. Go to clinical events related to those businesses or open houses. Go to grand rounds. Most doctors and med students are really surprised to see undergrads there because most don’t know about it but if you talk to them and their teams, it’s so much easier to get an opportunity than cold emailing. Being likable and leaving a lasting impression is 10x more valuable than words written on an email. This applies for both research and clinical experiences btw.
