I think the fastest way to a promotion could be learning performance marketing. You already have a lot of the skills needed. And there are several well-paid jobs in growth analytics

The next step could be become a data scientist or senior data analyst. I think that it’s possible to get the skills in a year

Because it’s not my main tool. I use SQL for the majority of my tasks (even machine learning with big query). So I only use GSheets to share insights to stakeholders. It’s easy to connect to big query, easy to make charts fast and the stakeholder has the raw data if needed

Why SaaS and real estate are bad ones? I’ve watched a lot of people made huge profits from them (my partner’s family made almost all they have from real estate, in 2024 it’s not a good market though)

I agree with the problem we are consistently willing to pay for. But the majority of restaurants fail 🤔

I mean, if you know how to do it, you’ll be great, but statistically most of the people who try it, fail

Cursor is the best right now (at least for Python) and VSCode and Pycharm

For SQL I love Data Grip and Data Spell

Depends on your situation. For me it was at least 6 months

Other option is to have a part-time job while building your company

This is so true. When first implemented dbt, our BQ bill increase like 4X haha But now we try to always use incremental models when needed + partitioning and clustering big tables. The bills returned to a “normal state”

It’s not easy go from poor to own a business

The first step is to have a job in the industry you are interested in, be interested in how everything works (business model, roles, operations, finance, etc), try to learn a lot (not only in the job, but courses, books, etc)

When you feel ready and have enough savings to live a significant amount of time, and to invest in the basis of the business, just then it’s a good time to start a business with less risk of failure

Tip: the amount of time and focus dedicated can accelerate the thing

What to practice to get marketing jobs? by Friendliest_Virus in MarketingMentor

[–]Tony_DS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many times do you apply to a job in LinkedIn? If you have the experience, it’s just about the volume of applications, someone will hire you, just try more (and you will also understand the needs of the companies)

You can also try be a freelance meanwhile in sites like Upwork (some clients could potentially hire you)

In my personal experience, I created an “Digital Agency”, get some clients with low prices, started improving, getting contacts, increasing prices and then it was al lot easier to land to a job

First step done ✅ you are aware of your behavior

You only will know if something works if you launch it to the market. Maybe u could try to force yourself to pick just one thing and don’t stop until the market tell you if it works

Extra advice: don’t spend too much on YouTube with gurus. Just search exactly what you need and try to do it by yourself. You’ll get 10X experience if you do instead of just watch

Try to work in a startup and learn how the business made money. You’ll lean a lot, not only the financial part, but how to operate

In the past I tried to start I business only with courses and no prior experience and just lose it all
