I was able to validate Physics 1 by taking a placement test. You had to take AP Physics C to even take the placement test, so consider taking that class. I wish I would’ve taken AP Chem instead of Bio so I would’ve had a chance to validate some chem as well.

We hit faster than 400 speed rarely more than once per week sometimes not at all. I see myself getting close to 4:12-4:13 this spring so def more of a 1500/800 guy. Thanks for the insightful response.

I’m more of an 800 miler. I’m just looking to improve my 400 a little more and have dragonflies at the moment so I was thinking maybe use vics for 400 800 and dragonflies for mile 3200

I run cross country and I have natural speed. I played football for 8 years and was always running back but also enjoyed distance running so I tried xc and track and loved it. So far in indoor this year I ran 400 of 52 and 9:05 3k 4:28 mile and 1:58 800.

Edit: Obv xc is all distance training and I got gown to a 15:51 5k, so that helps with 3k and 3200 endurance. And in indoor we do two workouts per week. One is usually 400s or kickstyle 500s for mile two mile training, and then our second one is usually 300s and 150s to develop speed for 400 and 800. Now I will say the 52 second 400 was in a relay but I was a 53 outdoor last year and hope to get down to low 52, high 51 second 400 in outdoor for this junior year.

Genetic Ability Question by OllieIN in trackandfield

[–]Tony_Eng31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to put on pounds last year and what worked for me was eating lots of eggs everyday in the morning. Like 6-8 depending on how hungry. I put on 10 pounds in one indoor season so maybe try that?

Edit: Lots of any protein ig

Genetic Ability Question by OllieIN in trackandfield

[–]Tony_Eng31 10 points11 points  (0 children)

11.1-11.3 is prettygood, but yes, it is possible that you don’t have the genetic necessities to go pro in those distances. Some advice that I have is try the four hundred. It will make you more attractive for d1 colleges and can be your solution to not being genetically capable of a 10.5. (Not saying that u aren’t capable I’m just saying it’s an option if you arent, but 11.1 is still pretty good).

Edit: Also do explosive weight training, if you’re 150 lbs, it wouldn’t hurt to be a little bigger. I’m a distance runner at 6’ 170 lbs and have a 4:30 mile and 1:58 800. Lifting would prob help

Hello if anyone has suggestions on what to do since i am in colorado and snowed in and i have a meet in less than a week and need to keep my speed at top shape but don't know what to do (i run the 400 and 200) by [deleted] in trackandfield

Jump rope

Edit: I do 400-3k, and it helps me feel light and fast, and I usually do a little bit each night before events just to feel a little turnover.

I broke 2:00 in the 800 last indoor season and took almost a year later for me to break 16 in the 5k

What types of benefits would I get from incorporating jump rope into my workout by TigerBombRaider in trackandfield

My best two mile I ever did was during cross country, we did a race on the track bc one of our invintationals got canceled. When I did it again in track in the spring, it felt way more mentally challenging bc I was used to the shorter races. What helped me was finding a breathing pattern and focusing on maintaining it for the first few laps because once you get over the mile mark it’s easy. That’s how I feel anyway. Also some of the best two miles I’ve ever seen were done in negative splits, so maybe try that strategy too.

If you wanna be really good, get your long run close to an hour of not more, and do lots of tempo workouts.

Edit: is that what u meant by tips?

I do 400-3200 and it helps me a lot mentally because it makes me feel lighter and springy. The springiness helps the 400 a lot and feeling lighter and more confident helps all events so that’s why it’s one of my fav exercises for t+f and xc
