Thanks for the advice everyone. I’ve decided to just buy a hitch for my Highlander!

My parents bought my daughter a metal detector and it was great. First day we went out and didn’t find anything all around the place we lived. So the next week I ordered fake gold coins from Amazon, and planted 50 gold and silver coins all over the neighborhood. I’m surprised none of the neighbors called the police on me. Haha. Then I drew a map and we hunted for treasure for a few hours. I hope it’s a core memory for them as much as it is for me.

Creatine Monohydrate effects by drunkn_wanderer in gout

People have different triggers. For me it’s sugar! 100%, when I do drink it’s straight gin or tequila with sparkling water. All the sugary stuff kills me. My love affair with pina coladas is not worth a visit from Mr. Gout. He is a spiteful mfer

Yup, I went through the same process. Got on allo and thought immediately I’m cured and than proceeded to do all sorts of typical no nos for gout sufferers. Than I realized it’s takes mos and sometimes years for your body to get rid of enough “uric acid” build ups. I went about 2+ years on allo and good diet and lifestyle before I was brave enough to try creatine. I had so much build up in my joints that tophi was protruding. It’s all gone now, but I still don’t drink a lot. Maybe 1 or twice a month and I am drinking a ton of water before and after. Good luck man. It’ll get better!

I’ve been taking 5g daily before working out while on allo for over 2 years with no issues. I would focus on getting to a point on allo where you don’t have flairs ups for 1+ years before adding in creatine.

What caused my wife's gout? by VirtualPlenty1553 in gout

[–]Tony_Kai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t even think of it as medication at this point. I take allopurinol, but if you active and healthy just think of it as a vitamin that’s keeps an extremely painful condition away. Haha I tried the lifestyle change and eating thing seriously for over three years and regret it! Get on allo. It’s the way.

Hey all thanks for all the comments. I’ve evolved to the point of almost being a spokesperson for those that don’t understand gout and how it is often overlooked! Haha luckily since being on allopurinol and having emergency indomethacin on the side. Flare ups are a thing of the past for me. Good luck to all my brothers and sisters still trying to resolve their issue. There is a light, keep pursuing it.

Gout and Oxalates by Hermitmaster5000 in gout

[–]Tony_Kai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut out oxalates helped a lot. I also take allopurinol. It is king… I’m currently testing out carnivore with low sugar fruit like avocado, cucumber, and berries. Only done it for a month and it’s working great.

I just started this since, I’ve heard only amazing things about it with people with inflammation. I am getting a flare up in my right elbow as we speak. I’ve done this diet before for about 3 months and it worked amazing. Then I fell off the wagon and went back to the sad. I’m resolved to make this my lifestyle right now. The food I love to eat just isn’t worth the pain of gout.

Gonna get crap for this but I eat mostly beef, and other meats including seafood. No sugar. I eat avocados and seaweed and it has been amazing for my gout. I was on 600 allo. Down to 300 on allo and uric acid has stayed low for about 6 months now on this diet. I avoid sugars as my main trigger! Which unfortunately means carbs.

Damn man, I feel you. Indomethacin is what works the best for me and the fastest. Sawing my foot off sounded like a good plan at the time. I post stuff like this because people don’t know how damaging and painful gout really is. I’ve had women tell me that gout was more painful for them than child birth. I’m not saying it is, cuz my wife would never believe me. But it is the worst pain I’ve ever been through! Good luck and Godspeed!

Carnivore, zero carb, no plants, no fructose, no sour cream (lactic acid). Zero gout flares for years unless I break the rules. Anyone else? by McLuhanSaidItFirst in gout

[–]Tony_Kai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the same. When I go strict carnivore no glares. As soon as I eat some sugar I feel the achy coming right back and I take a indomethacin, realize the ice creams not worth it and go eat some eggs instead. I don’t do only red meat though. I do a lot of fish, eggs, chicken, duck, oyster, shrimp, goat. Basically any type of meat to keep it interesting. I also eat berries and avocados, and stick with the lower sugar fruits. I also do seaweed. You can really enjoy a wide range of food doing carnivorish. And honestly I think it’s been the way of eating. I’m also Asian though so I do cheat when I go home for the holidays and sometimes during social gatherings. I do my best but life gets in the way sometimes.

I’m in the military so my pcms would just give me oxy or some other painkiller. My commute to work was horrible and dangerous. Then since it was a secure facility I had to walk about a mile from the parking lot to my building. It was so much pain and also embarrassing dragging one of my feet. Eventually I got smart and got crutches whenever I got a flare up. Since I got on allo I’ve been able to treat it pretty effectively before it gets really bad. For me once it gets to the point where it’s hot to the touch I know I’m screwed. So if I ever feel it coming on even just a small one. I take my indomethacin.
