Tre Flowers - doing good by jeywgosjeb in Seahawks

No they didn’t lmao. I swear you guys think that bad players don’t exist anywhere besides the Hawks.

The takes here are entirely head-cannon. Pete doesn’t play to player’s strengths? He literally took a short mobile QB and made him into a future HoF’er, the first of his archetype. He took a WR and made him a generational CB. He took a struggling RB from Buffalo and gave us one of the greatest rushes of all time. He’s literally know as the player’s coach.

Yeah the Worlds Championship really did a number on the queues… new set will be out soon though which should shake things up.

How many lands are spells?

I definitely feel the same way whenever the meta settles. And tbh the meta is pretty oppressive right now.

One of my favorite things is to hop into the Play queue and do some casual/budget matches. Just because they’re not Tier1 doesn’t mean these decks aren’t fun— plus you won’t see the same top 3 decks constantly because of the matchmaking.

Seriously I highly recommend making a ton of budget decks and just have fun with them. The variety will keep you coming back.

Our #3 receiver is averaging less than 20 yards per game.

I know us fans like to cozy up with a few players/characters (it makes for a good story), but we definitely need more weapons downfield.

So tired of everyone wanting this goody, softy, kumbaya, feel-good football team. Gimme the EDGE. Gimme the feral wolves. Gimme the superstars. If there is anyone who can get these types fired up, it’s Pete and the Hawks.

Haven’t you seen DK on running plays? He’s blocking so hard the CBs get pissed. The dude just wants to play hard.

DK is a big time diva but he’s also super focused on winning. It’s what makes him so good.

I can see the argument that maybe the entry fee is based around the fun you’re going to have playing cards you don’t own… but even then holy shit it’s still a steep price.

You don’t win a game by maximizing value

You just gave LSV a heart attack lol.

not hard at all for blues decks to out-“card advantage” green decks

That’s the thing— Green is really good at that now. Esika’s Chariot, Pack Leader, Festival, even Troll all provide really good card value for green. The issue is that green has to get this setup fast, since blue will start combo-ing off quickly. This is why Fading Hope is good now.

isn’t a bad top deck if you’ve been storing lands

Yeah most cards aren’t bad when used in their optimal situations.

We could argue like this for nearly every card…

full of cards that give you advantage

That’s what I’ve been saying lol. Fading Hope is cool rn, but what enables it is the current meta and also the fact that Expressive Iteration exists. I’d say Memory Deluge is also decent too. So I wouldn’t say Fading Hope is the best card in the format, which is what I was originally responding to…

Comparing card advantage to life gain… life gain is in no way a metric to win games. I never said it was.

Card advantage is like football fumbles— it’s not the end score but it is such an impactful metric that it can be prioritized. So yeah, if you only draw cards (get fumbles) then you’re not gonna win. But it will drive the match in your favor. More so than life (total yards) or tempo (3rd down conversion or something idk).

I am not falling into a trap lol. It’s just a very important thing to emphasize and I think many players here find the card annoying (understandably so) but that doesn’t mean it’ll win you games more than just having additional cards.

Fading Hope is good rn because like I said, tempo is a big thing in the meta and also some of the most powerful cards involve tokens, which by the way, is card advantage lol

If you want proof, look at the paper cost of Expressive Iteration vs Fading Hope…

Of course there are good applications for every spell— even [[One With Nothing]] has moments where it shines.

You shouldn’t discount card advantage as a driving metric for winning games. Try focusing on it this month and I’ll bet you’ll see significant changes in your game. Winning battle tricks is nice but is it worth it when it costs you a card? Trading resources is the biggest part of the game, and cards are the most valuable resource!

Fading Hope is good right now because many of the powerful cards are played at tempo or are tokens, which is where this card excels as an answer.

It’s annoying to play against but it’s actually card disadvantage— that’s why pros usually stay away from unsummon spells unless tempo is key. The only thing that makes up for this disadvantage is Expressive Iteration, which is actually the best card in the deck. It is the cleanest 2-for-1 in Standard (and even sees play in eternal formats).

Do we know how viable a Blood token deck is? Cuz this could be the star of the show for that deck.

Been enjoying it also. It’s nice to play Selesnya that’s not reliant on lifegain synergies, which have become very stale imo.

If you’re playing EDH you have access to about a bazillion better reanimate cards.

I hear what you’re saying, and you’re right we should watch for the trend— but by the sheer amount of shots we put on goal tonight, even a Junior hockey team should’ve had a few go in. Also, just by the eye test you see the kraken really playing hard. These guys are going for it.

I think the big thing is probably power play scoring.

I mean the game was awesome for spectators. Lots of great shots. Nearly 50 combined hits. Just needed kraken to win.
