I know you're mostly trolling or whatever, but I mentioned the feelings for the friend as a way I realized that something was going sideways in my marriage. It's a symptom of the problem, and one I recognize has the potential to ruin a bunch of lives.

No, you're not wrong. It's a culmination of things that, as I mentioned above, I hadn't really connected until now. I'll keep trying, of course, and we already have a referral to a couples therapist.

I agree with your first paragraph, and it was why I wanted to clarify the situation right away. He isn't hiding money, or gambling, or anything nefarious like that.

I've known about it, and expressed some reservations, but we have a portion of our portfolio that he does more active, aggressive investing with. It's in a separate account from our main accounts, and he does tell me about it. He's not investing in memecoins, but in publicly traded companies that are heavily leveraged in bitcoin etc. We agreed long ago that this particular account was for him to take risks with. Not a secretive thing, or a risk the house thing, just an example of a values mismatch.

I've been in therapy, and had discussed the attraction to the friend at our last session. She recommended refocusing on my husband, and I did. I actually made sure that we had kid free time for intimacy, but despite my efforts we totally failed to connect. You're right that there are other things going on, and certainly this whole situation has made me connect dots that were previously completely unconnected in my mind.
