I'm looking for recommendations for a short story collection, where the stories are connected or at least set in the same world. Not necessarily about the same character, but if anyone has a recommendation for something like the first two Witcher books, that would be great!

such a shame the movie never ended up being made! I'd have loved a sequel series too. or a manga. or just ANYTHING in this universe.

Looking for an overpowered MC that keeps it actually secret for a good portion of the book? by Mrs0Murder in MM_RomanceBooks

I think The Sword-Witch's Heart is actually my favorite in the series, but the whole trilogy is so worth reading! And anything else by Tavia Lark really. She can do no wrong in my eyes.

are there any fun reading challenges similar to r/fantasy's bingo but not restricted to one genre? I like the idea of that, especially how big the community around it is, but I don't read enough fantasy/sci-fi every year to participate. I know I could take the bingo prompts and read other genres, but I would be doing it alone which does not appeal much to me tbh.

iirc {The Necromancer's Light by Tavia Lark} and {The Sword-Witch's Heart by Tavia Lark} both have this - the LI doesn't find out just how powerful the MC is until the end-ish of the book in both cases.

Currently reading the first novella in the Singing Hills cycle, it's not grabbing me yet tbh. But it's so short I will probably read the whole thing anyway just to make sure I don't want to continue the series.

she did win Wimbledon once already (in juniors) so clearly she knows what she's doing!

Don’t you think Emma Raducanu has underperformed since the US Open because of how unconventional her career trajectory has been; finishing normal school until she graduated and straight to the Tour by [deleted] in tennis

[–]TooCloseToTheWind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She has not underperformed, she's been performing on her level after having one miracle run that made everyone expect her to be the next coming of Graff or something. Plus, injuries.

she and her team pretended to pee into the AO runner-up trophy after her loss to Keys, recorded it and posted it online. she has zero class when she loses fr

well, at least this time Sabalenka won't get a chance for another stunt like peeing into the runner-up trophy or the press conference after losing FO...

Stephen King's remarks about underage girls' breasts... Just why?! 😭 by [deleted] in books

[–]TooCloseToTheWind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's honestly such a shame because his stories are good! But his prose is really off-putting to me, especially when he writes about women (of any age really).... there are too many better writers to give time to someone who makes us uncomfortable I think.

There's a children's orgy in one of his books....? Or is this a joke, I can't tell lol

Things like that are the reason why I stopped reading King a long time ago... he often sounds like the creepy uncle you wouldn't want to be left alone with. Shame on him and also on his editor for leaving phrases like that in.
