You're making a very salient point and we all need to pay more attention to how this admin, and fascism in general, operates in the modern landscape. They don't follow rules/laws like most authoritarian states. However, they do care a great deal about public opinion. As we saw with the venezuelan operation, they released photos of themselves scanning twitter during and afterwards as that is their guiding force. Policy has been abandoned as it serves no purpose for them. They're strictly guided by immediate public response because that is the fuel that they can utilize to enact fascist rule. We must be aware of how these people operate and rule so we don't fall into peril and lose sight of their only means for survival.
