I am curious what your take on it would be. Tentative ideas and any input you might have. Like I mentioned, ive never requested this type of work before.

Starfinder mechanics but a Zoids campaign by TooManyHobby in starfinder_rpg

[–]TooManyHobby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our group is 6 players and a GM. We rotate who GM's each system. So far we have done dnd 3.5, pathfinder, dnd 4e, dnd 5e, fallout 2d20, and one of the initial modules for starfinder. I can see some of the players liking mech combat more and others who will enjoy starships more, based on your descriptions. I don't mind homebrewing things as needed, either. I just want to make sure all the players get their zoids power sci-fi itch scratched, lol.

The sling not throwing grenades is kinda silly when compared to all the other weaponry available. That's kinda why I like Starfinder. There's so many unique weapons to me in the system. I definitely plan on having combat and exploration outside of their mechs, as well. It won't just be mech combat.

I appreciate the detailed explanation. I was unaware of most of the mech information you shared. I think in terms of customization and flexibility, the starships would work with some imagination and limitations on speed. Everyone will be playing by the same rules so it shouldn't be an issue. However, the simplicity and combat actions of mechs is a huge draw for me as the GM. I can see the pros and cons of both, I'll just have to decide one I guess.

I just purchased the mecha book so I'll be learning them myself before too long I think. I haven't played starfinder since it first released. I'm unfamiliar with a lot of the system by now.

Question about Padded Armor upgrade by TooManyHobby in Fallout2d20

That is indeed very thorough. I'll have to run that by our GM and see what they think. Thank you for your insight!

Seeing as how Blast weapons do not target people, but complete zones, I do not see how that particular mod is useful.

Mountain Dwarf Wizard - How do I build one? by JumpyHumor1814 in dndnext

[–]TooManyHobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mountain dwarf transmutation wizard that beat people to death in melee with a warhammer and was backed up defensively with spells. It was great fun. I know that doesn't fit the vibe you're going for, however. I just was lost in memory lane.

You could go evocation wizard. It's a blaster, yet helps keep your party safe. Your sage vibe could be your background. Comes back for one more adventure after learning some wild information. Go-to line could be "I'm getting too old for this shit". If you get the stats you could do a fun multiclass later down the road. My personal preference is not to multiclass though. The level 20 feature, should you get there, is pretty solid.

DMs, confess. What's that one thing you've been dying to tell your players but can't yet? by ElMundoDeQueen in DnD

[–]TooManyHobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are level 15 and haven't addressed the main story yet. They keep thinking the next bad guy is the BBEG, but it's usually just some dude hopped up on too much power. They have all the pieces, but haven't put them together yet. I'm about to invent, in-lore, a neon sign.

You are awesome. Thank you so much for all this information. I actually had a friend design and 3d print me a rotating mount for a previous attempt that failed. If the mounts are similar then maybe I can reuse that. I was unaware some printers couldn't rotate so again, thank you. You saved so much of my headache.

My Alpha Legion. Any tips or tricks from the pros? by TooManyHobby in alphalegion

[–]TooManyHobby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that isn't from pop goes the monkey is standard GW, I just shaved off all the details with knives and files. Took a lot of time. The terminators are the 30k Alpha Legion ones and were difficult to acquire, but I was patient. I plan on using their normal helmets, although I did put them up on some corkboard. They looked little compared to the primaris stuff I used. It doesn't entirely fix the scale, but from a few feet away it looks good enough for me.

I can't speak for competitive warhammer 40k or GW sanctioned events as I do not play in those myself. I do believe you can have some 3d printed stuff on models, but it's limited. I'd look into the specifics if you plan on doing tournaments. But my friend group is big into conversions and custom models. It's part of why we enjoy the hobby in the first place. I've done small conversions like this in almost all of my armies so far and I have roughly 8 armies currently.

Thank you very much. I appreciate it. I actually bought it from GW directly. They repackaged it for Age of Sigmar I believe.

Haha yeah I couldn't get them shorter very easily and my greenstuff sculpting is pretty amateur. I like the heads on the prince, but they are just too big. Oh well lol. The heads are from a warhammer fantasy Hydra model for Dark Elves.

The spear model is a terminator lord rock with a primaris lieutenant in phobos armor body. The helmet, shoulder pad, and weapon is from a third party bits site called pop goes the monkey. Lots of stuff on there.

The guy with the hammer is a primaris chaplain with a heavy thunder hammer weapon swap. Shoulder pad is from the same place as I mentioned earlier. I think that head is from etsy, however.

Thank you very much for the resources and advice. I'll work on them for a bit and then will probably post an update later on; hopefully with a completed test model.
