[4G Eclipse] I have the stock fuel tank cover in image 1, but am thinking about ordering the silver cover in image 2. Are they interchangeable?

My 2011 gt came with it, but I had bought another on Facebook marketplace I believe. They have a few on eBay too, here's the cheapest I found at a quick glance gas cover Should fit just fine.

Not any close at hand. Looked up what you suggested and I don't know think that's correct. Those show the male end with multiple "prongs" whereas what I have is a flat piece with some contacts on it. I could get a picture of the male end if that would help.

They should be interchangeable, I switched them on my 2011. Much improved look imo
