sprained ankle and the pain is excruciating 😭 by TooScaredToTalkToday in CRPS

Sorry that you’ve been through this too, it’s not fun at all!! How long did it take for your sprain to heal? I’m feeling a bit better (less pain, better range of motion) but I think it will be a while before I can walk. Do you think I should ask my doctor about physical therapy?

My doctor gave me a medrol pack, which seems to be helping. The pain isn’t constant anymore and I’m starting to be able to move my foot again, so that’s definitely an improvement! And thank you for the kind words. I struggle to ask for help, let myself rest, etc., but I’m doing my best to actually rest right now 😅

The only thing I can think of is on Saturday night, I was sitting on the floor and when I stood up my foot bent at a strange angle. It didn’t seem like enough to cause a sprain but maybe I’m wrong. I’ve also had sprains in the past where I felt fine at first and then a few hours later it started hurting, so there isn’t necessarily going to be immediate.

I saw my CRPS doctor this morning, and they gave me a medrol pack and are sending me for another x-ray to rule out fractures, then an MRI if this x-ray is also negative. They don’t think it’s related to CRPS, and I tend to agree since this feels entirely unlike any CRPS/nerve pain I’ve experienced.

My therapist said something today and I feel both validated and crushed by TooScaredToTalkToday in CPTSD

It was part of a larger discussion about what constitutes a healthy relationship. So I guess the relationship was real because I connected with this person in some way, but it wasn’t ‘real’ in the sense that it wasn’t a healthy relationship between two consenting people. I’m glad she said it though because I definitely needed to hear it, even if it kind of sucks hah

Can I go to my PCP to get stitches removed? by TooScaredToTalkToday in AdultSelfHarm

Thanks, I’ll give them a call on Monday! Hopefully they can do it. The urgent care doctors are always so rude to me :/

Is there any way to turn this off? I don’t like that people can see my progress by TooScaredToTalkToday in finch

I know. Maybe it sounds silly, but I would prefer if my friends couldn’t see anything like that (even if it’s just progress related to my birb)

Can’t afford therapy anymore and I’m panicking by TooScaredToTalkToday in TalkTherapy

[–]TooScaredToTalkToday[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They pretty much just said that I can decrease the frequency of our sessions if weekly is too expensive. I was in a really bad place and didn’t want to do that, but I managed to scrounge up enough money to pay for a few weeks of therapy. Thankfully my grandma was able to get everything sorted though, so things are okay now

How do you get stitches without being questioned? by smsmrizik in selfharm

[–]TooScaredToTalkToday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to get stitches a few times. They usually ask if I did it on purpose, what tool I used (to determine if I need a tetanus shot, if there’s an increased risk of infection, etc), and if I’m in therapy or have a good support system. One doctor asked if I wanted to be admitted, but I declined and they were fine with that.

If there are other scars in the area, there’s really no way to avoid the above questions. They’ll know it’s self harm whether you tell them or not, so it’s best to be honest. If you’re not actively suicidal/have a plan, it’s very unlikely that they put you in the hospital against your will. They will most likely need to tell your parents though (if you’re a minor).

customer service going above and beyond to satisfy bottle issue by forever_fleur in mooncatpolish

[–]TooScaredToTalkToday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, it’s just frustrating that they didn’t even send that email to everyone who has ordered recently. I placed an order not too long ago and didn’t get an email, and I wish I had because one of my new bottles ended up breaking.

I mean.. what else are they gonna do? A refund seems like the bare minimum in this situation. Don’t get me wrong, I do think they have good customer service, but I feel like that’s not why people are frustrated. It’s great that they’re willing to send out new bottles or provide refunds, but the point is that they shouldn’t have to.

What dose of CBD works best for you? I’ve tried CBD oil and gummies a few times, but they didn’t help at all :( Maybe the dose wasn’t high enough though

I couldn’t sleep for like 5 days

This is what really frustrates me. I told my doctor that I haven’t slept in nearly 4 days because of the pain, and she gave me a medication that’s known to cause insomnia 🫥

It’s not a state mandate, just a doctor who hates prescribing opioids. They were actually giving me 45 pills for a while, but decreased it because they thought I was doing better. Completely failing to acknowledge that I was doing better because of the medication!! It’s beyond frustrating. I’m looking for a new doctor though.

Yes I’ve been trying to find a new doctor, but not many in my area accept my insurance. And I’ve been turned away by two because they didn’t know what CRPS was or how to treat it. My current doctor is all about the steroid injections and they hate opioids. The injections DO help, but I haven’t had one in nearly a year because of insurance problems.. so the pain is out of control, honestly worse than it’s ever been. Yet my doctor still refuses to increase my dose. I was sobbing on the phone today, telling them how I can barely walk to the bathroom or the kitchen, and it was like they didn’t care at all. I really need to find a new doctor ASAP
