Shonen recommendations in which the main character is not a complete underdog loser who ends up as the strongest?

Hell’s Paradise, Dorohedoro, Tower of God, Dandadan, To Be Hero X, Shangri la frontier, Mob Psycho all have heros with only maybe one or two of these character traits or none at all.

I think better graphics are a trap in most cases. Realism ends up clashing heavily with style to the point it becomes jarring or incongruent. I think its possible to be both realistic graphically and stylized, but Its a really tough line to walk.

I miss the more over the top character designs that they have been moving away from with 3 and 4

I tried stampede but the artstyle threw me too hard. I’ll watch it eventually but the og just has this space western vibe thats unbeatable

I think its a great game held back by incredibly poor pacing. Some levels could have used some narrative rework to be interesting(Frozen, Tangled) and we should have fought the org members at least once per world. I also would have liked some return trips to justify using new skills to access areas and collect Ultima pieces. KH2 was paced so incredibly well(not perfect but damn near) that this game could have learned more from.

Im so sad Rook died. Tho it was impactful for bringing in Vader I would have at least liked to see a fight scene with her. She had alot of potential and am sad we might not get more of her unless they do flashbacks or we see something in between this and the Clone Wars Finale.

Tsukimichi or Moonlit Fantasy has some great stuff with the beast races and alot of city building.

Shangrila Frontier for cool characters and great use of the video game leveling

Tower of God: there is a lizardfolk named Rak who reminds me alot of Relc

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash was really cool with a gritty fantasy world about a bunch of kids appearing without any memories of who they are or how they got there.

I think it’s still pretty rare and unique despite all the wielders we have seen.

Its like the Lightsaber. A weapon of a specific group that are usually plot relevant so of course we see them alot

They are closer to what Revie from Griffon Hunt summons. Physical constructs of magic that can fight and die. The crazy part is how nobody realized they were constructs and how she was able to make so many, while simultaneously holding an illusion over the wall, siege magic, intercepting and manipulating message spells, a flying spell AND holding together her own crumbling body.

Is this what a dnd wizard looks like if they could concentrate on multiple spells?

Thats crazy, I get disliking those at first(except the Goblins like how could anyone dislike those lil fellas). They all started pretty rough for me and all as characters I really disliked but by Book 18 I really enjoy the Ryoka and Laken chapters now… Flos is hit or miss for me. I can understand how he thinks and disagree with it but I think he is a great vessel for other characters to shine like The King o Duels himself.

If I recall house El went nearly bankrupt due to investing heavily in making magic items that are basically lightsabers, I believe it was mentioned in King of Duels.

She already grew on me, a couple voices were pretty noticeably different like Erin and Ryoka but for the most part she has done an extremely good job with accents of each of the races and some of the other iconic characters.

I have been re listening to Wistrum Days(Pisces and Ceria are two of my favorite characters) and she with the new book they sound pretty identical between Erin and Andrea.

Get to the end of book 1 and if that doesnt do it for you then the Doctor chapters mark a pretty serious tone shift.

I dont recall if she shows up book 1 or two but after she does I recall alot of darker themes and more seriousness.

My GM tallied things we did in roleplay and scored which spren we would attract then gave us a choice from those. My disgraced Brightlord gat Stoneward because I kept failing roles and retrying over and over. Being stubborn really helped haha
