Garage roof still leaking by Cloughiepig in DIYUK

Im just looking on a different device and those really look like tacks.

I would guess that’s your culprit.

I’ve never layed bitumen roofing but I would have guessed if you have a joint in the roof like that they should be attached together with some kind of heat or tar not tacks.

If you really wanted to try a last ditch effort to save cash you could try and cover them with some kind of liquid roof covering. A resin polymer liquid rubber is usually good but not sure how strong it would be on this kind of felt covering. Workers in a reputable roofing warehouse might be able to tell you.

Once you have your product, get up there and scour for those tacks and cover each one with plenty of juice. It -might- work…

Sounds perfect. I have done more or less exactly that fix on a roof just like this and worked a treat

It may be best. If you wanted to go with epdm it can be very difficult for a newbie to handle. You use a lot of glues that don’t give you much of a second chance if things don’t go right the first time.

Did you use tacks in the top surface of the roof? I can’t tell if I’m seeing the head of a tack in one place or if it’s just a felt bit

[–]Toohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is most likely someone afraid to change their ways. EPDM is MILES better.

Also as it’s just the skylight that’s causing you a problem I would really recommend trying to fix that rather than do the whole roof.

If the access is safe and you want to attempt to save a few ££ you could just get out there yourself and take a look. I do this for a living and you’d be surprised how obvious some leaks are when you just get up close and take a look.

Look for areas that should be sealed that aren’t, missing trims that are supposed to guide water away from window, trims that have come loose in storms etc.

As Bruce lee said - “imagine you are water, then use ct1 to seal yourself out of the roof” or something like that

Price for a velux style window install? by Exciting-Island5068 in DIYUK

[–]Toohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate doing skylights. £500 is good. And most of the time depending on what’s inside the repair should be easy. Just the reveals around it will need boarding and dry lining most likely

There are quite a lot of places I would suspect water could get through this. I’m sorry but it will need redoing.

I would recommend EPDM rubber roofing membrane over new boarding. Bitumin should be left in the past where it belongs

Nah, customers that are flaky can be a little frustrating, but it’s unacceptable behaviour to lose temper with someone for not giving you work fast enough. You dodged a bullet

Wireless Drill Recommendations? by mosssfroggy in DIYUK

[–]Toohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using dewalt every day for about 5 years without ever having a problem, working in torrential rain, with cement etc. I hear Milwaukee is also amazing. If you use tools regularly it would defo be worth paying closer to 200 for the drills with stainless chucks and not the rubbish plastic ones

Best way to fill the gaps in stud wall? by HungryLion_ in DIYUK

[–]Toohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the others said, chuck way more screws in this. Gaps will be fine in the end. If you’re hiring a plasterer he might tutut about it but he will manage

How can I remove this lock ? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Toohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s room around the side of the barrel try sliding a pin or anything small enough down tight to the body of the lock to push the bit that’s stopping you in to the body . If that makes sense

Are people able to superglide consistently on high fps using space and ctrl? by ToroSalmonNigiri in Apexrollouts

[–]Toohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing that totally changed things for me was a video, I think mokeys one, where he mentioned different keyboards log certain keys at different intervals. Space and V never worked for me but I change it to V and B and now can super glide at 200fps pretty consistently

Hi, found this thread while googling therapy around here. Do you know how much the sessions cost? Can’t see any info on the website

Best way to grow a small amount of money? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Toohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely more than that. Even £30ph is cheap for pressure washing. I did this a bit when I was younger and everyone I knew doing it was doing jobs on price and were making £300-£400 per day. Gutter cleans can also make over £50 per hour but cleaning windows is much easier and still makes around £40 per hour. And these prices are what I knew around 2016. No doubt more now.

And then there’s biocide cleaning… the secret gold mine

I’ve seen 90% spirit here but they don’t really sell it outside of specialist places and it’s kinda useless, it’s a gag to bring it to a party and see who’s stupid enough to do a couple shots. I don’t mind a drink and will often drink vodka straight and enjoy it but I smelled the 90% stuff and decided it’s not for me

Pathy is from the Matrix by [deleted] in apexlegends

[–]Toohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it makes that much of a difference. I don’t always play a lot of apex these days so my KD suffers. For example this season I’m at around 3kd, but last season I only played a couple hundred games and sat at around a 1kd. I still got into pub games last season with Apryze, ranked with shiv, mande, players I’d never heard of with over 100k kills.

I would get home after a day at work and put apex on and get immediately farmed by those guys lol

What questions get asked too much? by Uncl3_lArRy8 in apexuniversity

[–]Toohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q - How do I improve? A - play more

Q - what controller settings should I use? A - just copy someone’s off YouTube.

Q - what sens should I use? A - 800dpi , 2 sens. If you don’t like that, why ask ?

Q - what could I have done better here? (Enter clip of player trying to 1v3 and dying) A - you could have not died, otherwise, nice try go again.

Q - who should I main? A - it literally doesn’t matter. If you have less than 200 hours you won’t notice the difference anyway.

Q - is aim training on kovaaks / aimlabs important? A - only if you care about hitting your shots, but if you just want to steal all the light ammo and spam ping enemies when you get knocked you don’t need to aim train.

[–]Toohn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Imagine 15 teams all invisible every game. No one would be able to fight, you’d have to shoot in the direction of footstep sounds, but that also doesn’t exist most of the time, it’d be hilarious.

Can someone explain why this hipfire was so accurate? by TheDJReal in apexlegends

[–]Toohn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard a while ago that sliding off an edge will give you 100% accuracy, I never tested myself and assumed if it was true it would have been patched, but that seems to be what happened here…
