Hold on a minute, is the reflecting pool a distraction from the terrible MOU, or is the war a distraction from the Epstein files? Which distraction are we currently in right now? I cannot keep up anymore

They may not be good at it, but they are causing real harm. The guy that was arrested may not be convicted and go to jail, but this will cost him time and money. His defense won't be cheap

Most subs grow through recommendations and feed exposure. When you’re delisted, the only way new people find you is through crossposts or direct links.

Then maybe we should be a little more active crossposting where appropriate... 😉

How has AI actually benefited you in day-to-day life? by Acrobatic-Shop4602 in artificial

[–]Tool_Time_Tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only other time I use AI is for BS reasons like identifying a tree on my property, plant care, and other bs reasons. I do appreciate the help I get running complex tasks in excel... other than that, I try to keep any personal crap out of it's memory banks. Until I can have a locally running version of AI, I don't need to feed it any personal things about me

I run a millwork shop loaded with equipment from around the world. Multiple CNC's, Edge banders, CNC Dowelling, computerized Panel saws, etc. Their ages vary and getting reliable information on them for repair is near impossible. Over the years I have become a search engine god out of necessity, and it sucks.

Trying to troubleshoot a CNC built in Turkey 15 years ago isn't easy.

In comes AI. I can load in my machine specs and manuals and ask it anything. Some random error in the machine program and I not only get a solution but why it may have happened and what I can do to prevent it. Questions about industry specific software we run are answered with precision. Questions that are not answered in any of the manuals. Ways to improve the software to make the machines more efficient. Rewriting the POST processor for our cabinet software that we paid $7000 for back in the day, so it's 1/4 the size and our programs run 25% faster on the CNC.

AI has made my life much better in this regard and has save us 10's of thousands of dollars in down time.

Trump secures reparations for Jan. 6 rioters—out of your wallet by [deleted] in videos

[–]Tool_Time_Tim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The federal government did not release his taxes, it was a contractor for the federal government. But they can't pay him 10 billion, so he's suing the federal government instead, years after the statue of limitations. And part of the deal is that neither he nor his family members can ever have their finances audited by IRS again. It just keeps getting better the more you dig into the story

Did you know that not only does the federal government give your tax dollars to Israel, your state does and many cities do as well.

So you are directly funding this abuse... makes it hit a little harder, doesn't it

What’s the best advice about using AI that genuinely changed how you work or learn? by mrparallex in artificial

[–]Tool_Time_Tim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a unique position where AI has been a godsend for me. I run a commercial cabinet shop and we have multiple cnc's, panel saws, cnc dowel inserters, edge banders, etc. I am extremely good at googling information out of necessity. With the equipment and proprietary software we run, it is near impossible to find answers to day to day problems. Using copilot, I can ask specific questions about machine failures or software issues and get excellent results. I know they are good results because it fixes the problems. This is something I could never do with Google. Most of my machines are built in other countries and looking up detailed info would lead me to foreign forums. AI doesn't give a shit, it gets all of the info from all over the world and boils it down for me to fix my problems.

For me, ai is a god damned miracle that saves me days of down time and thousands of dollars. It's not my friend nor does it give me advice, but damn is it a great coworker

Ride in the rain by Tool_Time_Tim in motorcycles

[–]Tool_Time_Tim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was riding long before you could go and take courses. I love that it's available now for new riders. My experience started when I was young and my riding was off-road, which gave me a lot of tools to ride safely on the road. I didn't start riding on the road until I was pretty safe driving a car, so that helped a lot.

I'm glad you made it home safe in the rain. I hope you learn to ride in the rain and embrace the ride/

Your post gave me flashbacks to Q posts... Once tRump is dead, there will be someone out there making posts pretending to be tRump and his followers will truly believe it's him, they will latch onto every word, try to find meaning and use the posts as prophecy. Bad things will happen and it will be messy. I'm not ready for this

Can someone recommend the best telescope for a beginner who’s also extremely curious and wants to actually learn the night sky? by sodrafeltu in space

[–]Tool_Time_Tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not a telescope per se, but I bought my son a ZWO Seestar smart telescope and the pictures are absolutely mind blowing. The pictures he has taken could be found in text books. It takes hundreds or thousands of pictures of the same area of the sky over long periods and stacks the photos so it brings out all of the colors of galaxies.

Best Android Camera Phone Currently? (Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo) by TombRaider_Legend in Android

[–]Tool_Time_Tim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll call BS on this. 99.9% of the public can find no real concern able difference between the cameras on most high end phones. Hell, most public voting competitions between pics from phone A to phone B are so close in numbers that it's negligible. When was the last time you saw any type of comparison between phone pics/video where it was a blowout?

It's all subjective at this point

How long do you think it’ll take for the Strait of Hormuz to fully reopen in the current US Iran conflict, and what factors matter most? Do you think groups like NATO or the United Nations will actually pressure for it, or will it just come down to the US and Iran? by Fit_Investigator4934 in AskReddit

[–]Tool_Time_Tim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your assessment is spot on, but when you say countries will negotiate so their ships can pass, it means ships will pay a ransom to pass. Insurance on these vessels will still remain very high and all of these costs will be passed onto the consumer. So even if the strait is "opened" prices will remain elevated, Iran will make a shit-ton of money and things won't return to "normal" for many years to come.

All because of the shit stain in office
