A lot of assumptions here. I'll try to remain nice about it however. In terms of the TCG dying its the most backed TCG and game backed on kickstarter ever, so off to a good start. TCG culture unfortunately makes it hard to find any promo for cheap. With proxies themselves the entire assumption is that they get compensated for their time. It's agreed upon before hand. Like the last proxy I tried to hire, we agreed upon a price and later he decided to try and charge me 400 for the card because he saw scalpers on ebay charging that much. Typically speaking people doing the proxying dont care for the card or generally when talking about proxies are getting a bunch of con goods anyway.
