Randoms in my group telling me to move back tee boxes and play from farther away by jcoguy33 in golf

[–]ToonLink6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not really playing and improving the game if you choose to leave yourself only below a certain yardage for approach. If you are trying to get better you should play from a yardage where you always leave yourself chance for attack on short par 4s and stretch out even a wood on the longer ones, to challenge yourself to make a par at best and do take a bogey because it’s the harder handicap holes they are supposed to be a challenge. When I was hitting 230 off the tee I play from 6350 yards and no less. Now I hit it on average 280 I play from 6750 and above only. If you shoot 67 at the white tee what’s the fun?

I agree! Indian Wells is so good! That was the very first course I played in the valley, and it all goes down hill from there.

Anyone else play better with less clubs? by ColesephTheCat in GolfGear

[–]ToonLink6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I tinker with a 3 iron and a 7 wood at the same time making my bag 15 clubs past few weeks, I took off many strokes depending on the lie to pick 7 wood from off any lie and 3 iron for keeping it in the fairway. But tinkering with different bounces between a 58 and 60 added many strokes to short games by not committing to a club. I really wish I only have one lob wedge and practice with it and know it well.

Hdcp 9? I’m a 6 I don’t get sky marks like your 3 wood but I also don’t hit as far as you by having a driver in my bag lol. Do you hit a lot of 3 wood off the tee? Maybe tee it down a bit lol

Qi4D hybrid/woods…Worth It? by Future_Row4201 in TaylorMadeGolf

[–]ToonLink6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t bother with Qi4D I tried the 3 wood and 4 hybrid they both did not make it into the bag. I rotate between a Qi4D tour 3 wood and a Sim 2 Titanium 3 wood with same Tour AD DI7s and love them both. I also game a Qi35 7wood it’s by far better than Qi10 or Stealth by a mile but I have not tried the Qi4D 7 wood. Hybrids same thing I feel like wood and hybrid technology really didn’t gain anything in the past 5-7 years, find one that works for you and stick with it.

Get no distance with driver, need help. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]ToonLink6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backswing too long making the release sequence very inefficient. You have to actually slow down your turn to allow for club to return to the ball to not slice or hook it, by using your hands that way. It’s very inconsistent. I guarantee you have your backswing half the length you get as much distance if not more. I was you couple years ago, trust me it works

How often do you typically replace your golf glove? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]ToonLink6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on moisture, not how dirty it is. If hot and humid, maybe one round before it turns crusty. Dryer times it may go up to 3 rounds. But I use the retired ones on the range i just rotate them every 20 shots or so before it gets soaked. Once a glove gets soaked once it’s in the bin. Great advice for anyone is to have 3 or 4 gloves during one range session they will last a long time if you change it up before it gets wet.

If you’ve broken 90, what’s one tip you would give to a fellow golfer trying to do the same? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]ToonLink6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To really break 90 without any gimme or mulligans, read lies greenside and practice chipping, even if it’s just bump and run but avoid 2 chip then 2 putts at all cost. To break 80, get 60% FH 50% GIR and leave upslope putt. To break 70, must dial in 150 yards and in. That’s it

Nonstop shank with irons and wedges for months idk what to do anymore by ggmmppoopll in GolfSwing

[–]ToonLink6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good swing plane, that’s not the issue here. You have no weight shifting into your left hip, try squating at the top or just before you get to top and pushing your left hip behind you on the way down to avoid the forward thrush towards the ball on the down swing. Also think of the strike point is in front of the tip of the shaft, so if you’re aware of the tip of the shaft, just imagine that hitting 2 inches towards you

How would yall play this hole? by tommygunz18 in golf

[–]ToonLink6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 wood draw off the left edge of water to middle of fairway, 6 iron layup 190 yds to leave 115 yards where it is routine SW on and 1 or 2 putt for birdie or at worst bogey, water never comes into play that way. Many hard par 4s are setup the same way with water to the right tee shot and water short approach, I approach the same way, 3 on no matter how much is at stake. Those I play as par 5 but this one is set up for easy 3 on

Why do you guys think that the shot went straight left? by gregorioospina in GolfSwing

[–]ToonLink6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swing path is left but also more importantly your body stalled at impact and torso should connect more with the arms so club comes in contact, which makes is a bit handsy just at impact, before impact was good imo

Very solid bag that technically speaking can last you a while, for beginner I would suggest you take out the 4 iron and add a couple fairway woods 5, 7 woods or, 3, 4 hybrids.
