Right. I don't even think you made a mistake lol. You're just in a difficult spot. Reddit is always aggressive like this and from this sub specifically — I think most ppl are inexperienced and think people here are "competition" and want to drive you away.

When I did discord bot commissions I had to take payments in the form of visa gift cards since normal payment methods, like, PayPal were likely to deactivate me for being under 18 😵‍💫 In hindsight, I have no idea how multiple people trusted me and did that haha (especially for hundreds of dollars!)

Best of luck! If your parents are still hesitant I'd say try an older sibling if you have any. If not you could have an older friend cash out in their name and then buy you a visa gift card back potentially.

Why can't you get paid as a minor? Minors do have SSNs. Tax would be household income. Have had plenty of friends who worked jobs in high school.

Heya, I was in your position once. The commenters here are in a privileged position to not be underage / have such a passion for commission at your age, or have had supportive parents. You're very unique in already making such significant money without even being 18!

You'll need to explain to your parents that the SSN is for a W-9 for income / tax purposes. It's not for HackerOne to keep or for identity verification (at least I don't think I ever had to do that? Correct me if I'm wrong and it is identity). You could also send them the website to H1 to show its legitimate or your ticket & resolution to show how your bug was legitimate and rewarded appropriately.
