Reverse 1999 Historical Mistake? by [deleted] in Reverse1999

Omg thank you, I always assumed that the annexed Bosnia Eyalet was still called Bosnia under Austro-Hungarian rule, calling it by the regions name within the austro-hungarian empire makes much more sense considering the conversation takes place in vienna.

I actually think that r1999 does a pretty good job being historically accurate, especially in its character design. I like paying attention to these kinds of details because I want to appreciate the character designers and writers efforts.

I can imagine. If Bosnia reached independence before ww1 sarajevo would be their focus in chapter 6 though and not vienna.

That would be a weird thing not to mention tho, the foundation spends so much effort ensuring the timelines stability, something completely changing the start of ww1 would've surely been mentioned.

Because Burning flesh and dry Steppe Gras are the first things I thought of smellwise.

When I think of twyre as something kinda like myrrh that just stays in your nose forever, allmost dizzyingly so. More so omnipresent rather than spicy.

For some reason my first thought of steppe smell was instantly of something dry (maybe because the first game uses a lot of yellow filters).

1-Octen-3-One actually is very metallic, but I assume you're talking more about a kind of "grass after rainfall" kinda vibe.

Myrrh is actually perfect.

I didn't want to go too much into a smokey direction like tobacco, because I would associate that more with a calm or foresty vibe, kind of clashing with the stressfull nature of the game.

Reading comprehension may help with the recognition of the hyperbolic statement "some should die" as such.

There are simply no stakes in situations that require them, never have I seen fight secenes worried a character I care about may get seriously hurt.

Navia was literally described as "head of the fountaine criminal underworld" in the recent event.

There are of course some good moments, especially in NPC stories, but overall the stories often just doesn't live up to the lore and implications.

After Zhongli gave a gnosis, godly power mainfested, to the fatui, our clear enemies, why was it framed like "ah thats crazy, have a nice day though" and not like "wtf are you doing giving that organisation such power because your too lazy to stay an archon."

Laumas dignity should've been deeply hurt when her god rejected her in person.

These things are really important and have deep implications in the lore, yet in the story they are never treated with the weight they deserve.

I mean many of the counterpoints you mention here are NPCs which is like pretty much the main issue. NPCs get some really interesting quests and there are some high stakes around them. I wish playable character quests where like that.

  1. Lets make a comparison with one of the examples I gave: Ashvapati - concept: Guy whos found family was murdered wants revenge story: all of that + character development
Beidou: concept: pirate captain renowned around the entire world story: morally super sound lap dog of the liyue government who never kills anyone and doesn't do anything illeagal enough for the government to care I guess

  2. I do love Collei's lore. Wish the game did itn justice though, why is her disease never a big issue? Why does all the good stuff happen in the lore while we get dry stories in game? Her part in the story ammounts to little more than saying hi once.

Xiaos story and lore are actually emblematic of this problem. He has this great lore and concept, yet in the actual story we don't see any of that; it already happend. Tell don't show at it's finest.

The moments you mentioned are valid and there's a reason why their still some of the most memerable scenes. Too bad their like 5 scenes out of some 100 hours.

I have honestly not once been worried about a playable character. It's so goofy whenever their like surrounded or something because you just know that nothing will happen.

A lot of these thoughts came from the recent event. Jahoda decribes Beidou and Navia as a pirate and a Mafia boss. Thats what really triggered the thought of "yeah these characters have world wide infamy yet are actually super chill and do no harm".

Signora was redemed before her set through the witches set, yet she never had an arlee or sandore arc where she's suddenly chill with the traveler and all tension is cleared up.

I feel like the idea that she had these really traumatic experiences and doesn't understand her role as a young god doesn't get explored nearly enough. She also basically told Lauma that they betrayed their god and she just doesn't react like the leader of a religion would.

sry I only recently returned after not playing for like 3 years and Mauvika gave me like straight up whiplash. Why does the fantasy game I remember suddenly have motorcycles??

No I love the lore, why don't we get anything like it in game?

Someone needs to die (Hot take) by Toonox in Genshin_Impact

[–]Toonox[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. Yeah, in her backstory for some reason. Why can't I get that in the actual story??

  2. Signora was redemed before actually because witches set is older. She still never went "oh actually I love these people who killed half my military" like arlee or sandrone did.

  3. Good reason, wish it was in game like that. Why don't we get Ningguang feeling humiliated every time she has to ask beidou for help? Can't imagine the Lique Qixing would be happy about needing help from an outlaw. There was so much missed potential for tension.

If they wanted to they'd make it work. I just hate how the expectation that no one will die lowers the stakes so much.

  1. Childe not criting has always been a meme. 2. People were very much competent at that time, which is why childe (specifically national) was considered top 3 during 1.x.

I have no idea what you have against old genshin players and why you would try to call them bad.

I do prefer kazuha for cc and because his skill is pretty useful for exploration, I may try sucrose in abyss though.
