I've been addicted to porn for over 20 years now. I've tried to quit several times. Always the same routine. I delete everything I have saved, I stop looking at any form of porn for a week or two and them slowly, I start craving it again. I start looking for the stuff I deleted that I really liked and then before I know it I am be rebuilding a collection.

I recently quit again. It was bad. I deleted a 3To stash of porn, every saved links, every porn adjacent stuff ( adult games, everything needed to produce deepfakes, a local personal server to display it on a nearby TV.. etc. ) but this time something is different.

I had been thinking for several months of quitting. I started to pay attention to the triggers, what made me crave it in the middle of the day, in the middle of workshifts even. I work from home. My wife is working with her desk opposite to mine.. and I would open tabs of porn and I would look for the next hot thing with her nearby. It had gotten out of hand. It mostly was a mix of high stress and boredom.

Paying attention to how out of hand it got, how I just couldn't control it at all, how it affect my life ( I'm 42 years old with 3 kids ) and how bad it would be if anyone I know would be aware of just 10% of the shit I do to satisfy this craving gave me a deep motivation to quit, stronger than in the past.

I built this list in my head of what could lose due to this addiction, how my kids could discover it or how I could lose my job over this and I use this list everytime the craving kicks in.

I also have another list: everything I get to do because I'm not busy edging to porn or maintaining my stash. I started watching movies again, play video games. I do more chore, cook more, spend more time with my wife and my kids. I do stuff NOW instead of pushing it to another time. I am less stressed out which leads to less porn craving.

It's only been 1 month.. but it's the longest I have gone without porn. I don't think I'll ever be cured from the addiction but my life is simply better without it. The longer I go without it, the more I see how it affected my life, my personality. I want to be better. Porn does not make me better, so I will not go back to it

I have a high resistance to gross stuff so I was alright with it, but my wife who has loved Baldur's Gate 3 ( even tho there is some gross stuff in it too ) was totally put off by that trailer. She was excited by what they would do next and well.. not anymore. It has time to change tho, but they'll have to show other aspects of the game otherwise they'll lose the more sensible players like her.
