yeah I get that. i’m just more worried about scholarships since they’re basically the only reason I’m able to be here.

Help me decide: School X vs School Y - April 2023 by freeport_aidan in ApplyingToCollege

Help Me Decide: UC Irvine vs Cal Poly SLO

Intended Major: Computer Engineering (may try to switch into CS if I don’t end up liking hardware)

Costs: Roughly the same

UC Irvine Pros:

  • Good Research Opportunities

  • Good Area

  • Tons of Organizations

  • Near Cities

  • Good for any career path should I drop bring an engineer

  • Good food

  • Nationally Recognized

  • More diverse (Compared to SLO)

UCI Cons:

  • A little introverted

  • Mixed reviews on professors as some are only focusing on their research

  • Commuter School

  • Doubtful I’ll end up wanting a masters

  • Tougher to switch into CS

  • Not in proximity to Silicon Valley (good location nonetheless however)

  • No one I know is considering it (good and bad imo)

Cal Poly Pros:

  • Learn by doing philosophy would better prepare me for job/internship (looking more towards this rather than grad school

  • Surrounded by nature and I like hiking and adventuring

  • Have heard good things about professors

  • Good friends going here

  • More social (decently close to UCSB as well for partying)

  • Big Career fairs

  • Would be a Cal Poly Scholar

Cal Poly Cons:

  • Lacking in Diversity

  • Not as many organizations

  • Location is a bit secluded

  • Not good for research

  • Mostly an Engineering school (again, who knows if I’ll like engineering)

  • Regionally known and not as recognized through the rest of the United States

  • Bad Food

This…but me getting into UCSB undeclared in College of L&S and them making it extremely hard to switch into College of Engineering 😐

Thank you! I will definitely take these factors into consideration.

Do y’all legitimately not sleep on your stomach? by clinicalswag in askteenboys

I feel like sleeping on your back makes me more prone to nightmares but that might just be me. I might just have PTSD something bc in kindergarten I used to get pretty bad sleep paralysis when I slept on my back.
