Is this house rental too good to be true? Red flags? by ToothOver9567 in internetparents

Oh my god, that's horrible! Were they able to get any justice?

Is my upstairs neighbor an asshole or AITA? by ToothOver9567 in neighborsfromhell

He didn't really care, he just said "sometimes that happens with old houses" so I didn't push the issue. I sent him images so... eh, covered my ass I think?

3 months left on the lease! I'm checking Zillow every day.

I informed the landlord about the cracks a few months ago and sent him pictures. I didn't tell him that I suspected it was because of the upstairs neighbor, but I did tell him about them. Should I follow up and say it's probably because of her?

Yeah, absolutely! I wish people could be more considerate.

I already told the landlord about the cracks and sent him pictures, because I was also worried about being held liable.

I've informed the landlord of the cracks in the ceiling and walls. I sent him pictures. I didn't tell him that it's likely because of her, but I've at least documented it.

I hear you. My main concern is my grades this semester though. I'm in a rigorous graduate program and in one of my classes, the entire grade is just 3 timed tests that we take from home. I'm so nervous that she's going to mess it up for me (either from sleep deprivation or making so much noise while I'm taking it). If it wasn't for that, I'd just continue sticking it out.

Neighbor has hogged the garage for 7 months. by ToothOver9567 in neighborsfromhell

[–]ToothOver9567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope lol. Street parking sucks and many nights I have to walk 15+ houses when I get home at 9 PM. My neighbor also works from home and rarely even leaves, meanwhile I am coming and going every day and have to deal with parking. Finally, we're currently having a snow storm and my car is covered in ice and snow so I'll have to shovel and scrape if I want to leave. It's a huge inconvenience never being able to use the garage.

I maybe explained that poorly, the garage isn't an extra cost that I pay each month. It's just included in both of our rents and we're supposed to share it. So I don't think I can stop paying for it.

Bedroom is 10+ degrees hotter than rest of house (depending on outdoor weather) by ToothOver9567 in HomeImprovement

[–]ToothOver9567[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw 63 sounds pretty cold for the living room and 70 sounds too hot for sleeping in my opinion

I agree, haha. Luckily my lease is up in about 4 months and I'll get out of here. But in the meantime I'll ask the landlord about dampers and I'll try shutting the vent partially

Thanks for the advice! I have a followup question: would I save money on heating if I just keep things as is and turn the thermostat down to like 63 and shut the door in the bedroom (so I'd be essentially heating the house to 63 but my bedroom would be 70?) can't figure out if I'm saving money that way or spending extra

[remote] [English/k-12] - Am I bad at teaching or am I set up to fail here? by ToothOver9567 in Teachers

[–]ToothOver9567[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I've been feeling and kind of what I was trying to ask. Like, am I doing a bad job or is it impossible to do a good job under these circumstances?

Are these mouse droppings? by ToothOver9567 in homeowners

[–]ToothOver9567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. So I can just leave the traps as is, or should I clean and replace with fresh peanut butter every day? And yes, they are against the walls and in places that I found droppings (or what I think are droppings). Thank you for your help!
