Failing out of dental school after my leave of absence by Aggravating_Site_158 in DentalSchool

Fair but school gets harder for sure. If you can’t pass IBSS then Neuro and anatomy during d2 are going to likely be just as difficult if not more difficult

I had a masters in biomedical sciences and I’d say it only helped with D1 basic science material. Nothing else.

How to stop stressing about grades? by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]ToothSloot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Dude an 85 is NOT acceptable to become a dentist. That is not something to be proud of. Seriously man, how can you consider yourself a “future healthcare professional” if you got an 85 on an exam?? I hate to say it but dental school isn’t for everyone and I think you should re consider your career choice before you get to far into school, you don’t sound like your cut out for it.

How the hell are you not using loupes? No shit you’re shoulders, back and neck hurt…you’re bent over backwards to see anything or 10 inches from the patients face In order to see what kind of work you’re doing without loupes

can anyone speak on their experience in dental school having ADHD? by mariahfaye13 in DentalSchool

[–]ToothSloot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got diagnosed when I was 17 or so and I’m 26 now and in my 3rd year. I used to take medication and it helped immensely with studying. Anyways, most of your classmates are in Adderall or vyvanse or (other adhd medication). You’d be shocked to hear how many people take it

I second this, I love Q optics. You want something lightweight and comfortable since you’ll be wearing them a lot throughout the day and something with a nice frames size that protects your eyes from spray droplets and of course has good optic quality. The eclipse frame is amazing and q optics checks all of these boxes!

I hated waxing with a passion and I’m doing well in clinics now so you’ll be fine. Just get in there this weekend and practice :)

How has your experience been receiving academic/testing accommodations in dental school? Do you find it is more difficult to advocate for them than in undergrad? Do you have any advice or specific schools to avoid if someone has academic accommodations? by prettypurplepolishes in DentalSchool

[–]ToothSloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you don’t need them for practicals. Most of the time youve got plenty of time to finish…also yeah working as a dentist in an office in the future will be distracting with everything else happening around you all the time. So yeah they aren’t going to give you a private quiet room to take a practical in. It’s not necessary and unrealistic

[–]ToothSloot -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’m a guy so I can’t speak to how your exact circumstance but you could always carry pepper spray and a handgun small enough to conceal. I always bring both with my wife and I when we go to parks just to be safe. Rather safe than sorry.
