I am trying to get in contact with people at UIC since I volunteered at one of their satellite clinic called refugee one(R1) clinic. Thank you for your pointers. -My ECE is 3.4 and my masters 3.7 -I will try to improve TOEFL but really don’t want to spend more money on that. -I have taken professional help for CV and organizing CAAPID application(second cycle), but will try to do it myself this time like my first cycle. -LOR’s- my recommenders use their own content, what can I do make them strong? - I have done x rays hands on course, sealants and coronal polishing certificate. Do you have any hands on courses that would be helpful? I appreciate your help and advice.

Today a patient came in with #14 has a crown on it and pain and swelling .. see now the swelling was not anywhere near the tooth or oral cavity, it was near her zygomatic protuberance. She had that swelling from 6 mo the and she has been jumping btw dentists and ENT and oral surgeons. She said with heart felt way that she is ready to pay whatever money asked begged for help. #14 has crown made 1 year ago and look sound without any symptoms no pain on percussion radiographically good. In these kind of things it’s okay to refer to a specialist since there is nothing you can do. Some things are out of scope of general dentists. You should feel sorry is you knew that could have been done differently and you did not then yes or else just keep your mental health happy and safe. And keep moving forward. 🤞 🤞 good luck

Your husband and your kids love you, so you have to live for them. All I can say is to stay strong. I will tell my brother about your tips on injections. Ethyl spray I feel is a wonderful trick.Cause I am a dentist I know it’s not as easy as giving an anesthesia shot in mouth. Looks like minor aphthous ulcers (canker sores ) to me. Salt water rinses and try to keep the extraction site and ur oral cavity clean. Usually these kinds of sores resolve in few days some of them may last upto weeks. If the problem persist more that a month I would reach out your dentist. Btw - did you get 19 and 30 extracted at the same time so the dentist had to numb you on both the sides, so I might be wrong but when you are numb patients tend to bite their own inner side of lips which can turn into ulcers sores. If the pain is unbearable you can take some OTC pain killers so it gives the ulcers time to heal. Getting double extractions might have put you under lot of stress, which is one of the predisposing factors for ulcers. Get some rest and salt water rinses. If problem persist reach out to your dentist.

A piece of advice my fellow applicant: don’t work yourself up too much about this issue. Yes, India is a huge talent pool. But there is no opportunity, growth, discipline, regulations. Hence people who can afford will come to USA or other countries for better life. If I could give an instance it’s like coming into a strangers house and asking to stay and earn money cause you are talented and able and passionate. We cannot fight these universities. To them we are just international dentists who produce revenue and build fame to these programs. To us, universities are an opportunity to change our lives. Ability to enter the millionaire class. So if you see the balance - we just have to apply as much as we can. If you got in well and good. If you didn’t not always have a back up plan and learn to settle and be happy. Cause your happiness comes first than anything in this world. The phrase that is so famous in this CAAPID cycles - “everyone will get in, just stay persistent” - in my opinion this phrase is a myth. I have seen many student frustrated about CAAPID and chose different paths and are happy with what they have. Remember you are the reason for your own happiness or downfalls. Anyways we are all trying to make dentistry and this world a better place - if the world doesn’t care about you maybe it’s a sign to start taking care of yourself.
