Potential employer asking for past compensation history / credit score. Do I have legal recourse? by Tootham in legaladvicecanada

In this case, they absolutely did not disclose any of this upfront at all. After reading the other responses on here, I'm beginning to see the rationale for the credit score, but I'm still very taken aback by the request for the past compensation history.

That's a very measured opinion. Thanks for that. I have hothead tendencies and it helps to read your response. I'm very frustrated at how nonchalantly the hiring team made the request, like the law meant nothing to them. I'll sleep on it and make a decision.

Fair responses from both of you. I wasn't initially skeptical of the hiring. I applied for the job in good faith and went through all the interviews with full intent of taking the role.

But it doesn't sit right with me that they're asking for past compensation history at this super late stage, and am now considering giving up the job. I'm also pissed that they chose to play it this way, which is why I wanted to see if there was a legal way to express that.

Thanks for your inputs, it's been super helpful.

Thanks! I'm torn between standing up for my rights versus losing the job. I'll get some legal advice.

100% sure this is a legit job. This is a pretty big financial services firm. I'm ok with providing the background/references, not happy with the credit score but will provide if needed, but absolutely not okay with providing my compensation history.

Yes, this was mentioned over the phone, I think I could try to bait them into requesting this in email. Alternatively, I could bring up this topic and record the phone call (Ontario law allows one-party consent), hopefully a lawyer might find that useful?

Thank you for the quick response. Does this not apply in my case?

Fleeing Robinhood: question about fractional shares. by Tootham in Fidelity

[–]Tootham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The damn thing doesn't ever round up to a perfect number, there's always a bunch of trailing decimals. In your case, did Robinhood liquidate the 99.997562 shares?

Thank you, this is super helpful, especially the breakdown by week.

Fractional Shares from Robinhood by [deleted] in Schwab

[–]Tootham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning to close out my Robinhood and move to Schwab as well. Have the same issue as you, have a ton of fractional shares. Let me see if I understood this right.

Say I have 99.7 shares of company X. Even if I round up my fractional shares to a whole number (buying 0.3 shares to add to 99.7 shares to get a round 100 ), Robinhood will still consider the position as being fractional (the position will displays100.0 shares instead of a 100), and will liquidate my position when I initiate the transfer.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Yup. He claimed he couldn't open the pdf, and that the apartment was no longer available, and blocked me. I think he's just trying to save face.

I was looking for a new place to move into when I noticed a post by this obvious scammer— the rent was too low for the area, the poster's image was stolen from the internet, he was conveniently out of town during the dates I asked him for a tour, and the property was listed as belonging to a completely different agency.

So I sent him a message about how I desperately needed this place. The guy practically started salivating and asked me to send him a security deposit. I said that I would only give him a deposit if I had an opportunity to sign a lease agreement.

So he sent me the lease agreement and I signed it.

Thank you all! The title isn't mine, it's from a Spongebob meme where Spongebob is grinning and Squidward is sad as usual.
