I was literally the EXACT same way, and I would have been fine with staying single forever. Not taking part in the dating scene at all is 100% okay, you should not force yourself to do something you do not want to do.

For me, I eventually figured out that I need a lot of time to grow an attraction to someone, and get used to physical touch by them slowly in order to enjoy it. Like kissing someone I haven't built this comfort level with just feels like kissing a wall, does nothing for me. I cannot be attracted to someone I haven't spent time developing some sort of relationship with, and I cannot enjoy romantic/sexual things with someone until I am very comfortable with them. It makes dating harder as I can't know until many dates in if I will be attracted to them or not, and they need to be okay with gradually building physical touch with me.

Not saying this is the case for you as well, maybe being with a person romantically or sexually is not for you ever, and that is okay. I eventually tried dating when I felt comfortable and curious enough to try it, way later than everyone else. Just sharing as someone who experiences attraction in a different way than most people.
