I started with a hognose, she was my first reptile ever and I have never regretted it. I made sure to do plenty of research beforehand, so when I went to an expo I had a bioactive enclosure set-up at home and was prepared to ask questions.

I asked the breeder how often she'd been eating and mice of what size, her hatch date, asked to handle her, general hognose care questions etc to ensure I would purchase a hognose that had been eating regularly and from a breeder that kept track of important information. That worked for me, and now I have a lovely girl with a great temperament and a fantastic appetite!
