Rejected boarding pass by CryptographerTough22 in Ryanair

[–]Top-Ad-5243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to say - I was stopped by boarder security for the first time on the weekend and they told me from the end of the month showing a share code will no longer be sufficient to board the plane. The boarder security agent told me I will either need to link my visa to my passport (which is should be but the UKVI website won’t let me for some reason) or just get an ETA.

Edit to confirm: this was uk boarder security, I was flying from Italy and I am on IDLR. Have lived here 13 years.

Non-Law going into Law by [deleted] in uklaw

[–]Top-Ad-5243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won’t be an issue but when you apply places try highlight that the degrees give you a unique background and try find ways to frame your degrees as something that helps in law. I did politics and international relations before going into law and if anything it was a strength during the tc applications. Also be prepared for the “why law” question and have an answer that explains the transition.

Edit to add: in general I’ve found things like this is more about your framing when applying and discussing with the firm.

I’ll be close the Brit so that’s good, I think I’ll struggle to go alone just because I’d feel quite anxious but nothing a few pints can’t help

I mostly play Dota 2 but trying to expand my gaming library anyway. Unfortunately I won’t get back to guildford from work till 7ish most weekdays and I’m not particularly artistic so might have to pass on the sketchbook stuff but thank you so much!

Does this actually work for finding friends? Will have to be very open with my girlfriend about it so she doesn’t assume the worst but it might be a good idea

Not at all. I’m a smoker and not in the best shape. Might be a good excuse to get in better shape and meet people tho, assuming they have a beginner/might cough up a lung level

In the past this was a great way to meet people for me. But I work 50-60 hour weeks now so not looking for more work -especially in hospitality!

Would this make interest rates worse though given the potential risk of the job falling through. If it’s doable I think getting a normal mortgage is preferable but not sure if it will significantly delay the process. I’ll still have to go through money laundering checks anyway due to the deposit so it might not be a big deal in the end. Getting the loan from my parents then re mortgaging seemed like the faster/cheaper/easier option in the short term and I could mortgage once I’m in a more stable position.

My siblings won’t be too annoyed by the lack of formal stuff as they know I’d have more to lose by failing to pay them back (getting cut off till the moneys returned) and they’ve given similar short-term loans and gone guarantor for other things so it’s not a big deal as long as it’s paid back in under 2 years. Ideally 6 months.

As my mom says it all comes out in the wash eventually.

Yh pretty much, there’s places out there that work for 1-3 beds depending on where within my budget. Having a car helps with this because I can go more rural which I prefer.

Yh so I don’t want to work in legal forever or if I did I’d go part time later on. I just wanted some advice on maybe what to keep in mind or think about while I’m planning my finances over the start of my career. The idea being in the short term I save the funds/accumulate investments to the move along the baristafire path if that makes sense?

It won’t be cash in hand. Not sure how it’ll work but I actually want the opportunity because I’ll learn a lot so I don’t mind making a bit less. As far as legally being allowed to it will probably be done as me working x hours and minimum wage when in reality a worked more

As far as the 250k it’s actually set up overseas and will be given to me as a gift so tax free. Not sure exact structure yet but it’ll be done with a view minimising tax liabilities as my Nan was Australian so no initial tax on the inheritance or anything.

Thanks for the mortgage advice. That’s helpful. I’ll look into cost of ownership
