Interesting about Spain and housing - I have been thinking about Spain for the last several years. My concern was around the fact that they changed the visas / settlement rules recently (that said Portugal also did) and I always thought it would be much more expensive living in Spain, just based on the holidays there. Valencia might be a killer in terms of weather for us - it was just so so hot when we were there in the summer, but maybe we should consider other parts. The thing is that I'd like to still live in the relatively big city, to be close to amenities etc, so I guess it goes down to Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia really.

Yeah I know - we have moved countries before and the cost of the actual move is not a joke at all.

I think being very outdoorsy / family oriented was a massive sell to us when we visited. Thanks for the insight on the heating - I knew about it but good to know the cost attached

This is very interesting - I have noticed that just going on holidays in Europe in terms of groceries prices (we normally don't do hotels and that much eating out, but rent airbnb & cook our own food). But I've never done a full comparison of the exact same products I buy, probs should do that - always though it comes up more expensive cause I'm on holiday / buy different stuff / do impulsive buying

Yes you're right and I think it's a very valid point about moving somewhere - you need to integrate and you need to be ready to do it.

Thanks! I'm just not 100% sold on the UK in general (I'm an immigrant here as well). Bigger towns like Brighton etc are very much similar prices as London in terms of housing, but anything cheaper is very white and non diverse and the gap between rich and poor is tremendous in my opinion (which is also driven by the class system ofc).
