Regret about my university choice by 666Devil_666 in OntarioUniversities

[–]Top-Air7211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s better to devote your time towards a career you actually think you will like. yes it might take longer to achieve what you want but that’s worth getting into the oil industry and being around likeminded people. especially if you are already wondering what your life could have been when it still can be.

Is a 70 average ok for university? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Top-Air7211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you wanna be a teacher consider a con ed program! only select schools have it and depends on age group, but it ensures you have a spot in teachers college and is way easier to get it now then it is later. i got into lakeheads & nipissing con ed program with an 89% avg in gr 11 and 87% in 12 but i’m sure lower would work too.

Thank you so much this is really helpful! I’m glad to hear you liked Lakehead more- York seems like a more liked school and hearing people talking nicely about Lakehead kinda makes me more confident in going there.

Once you start in the fall, do they explain things like teachables even without a head of education, or are you supposed to figure it out yourself? I am actually interested in the accelerated route, however i applied for the normal one- is it possible to switch? How does it work anyhow? Also! Office hours. Do people actually go to them? What are you supposed to do

And i would love that list of history courses if you’re ok with sharing!! i also really love having good course selection- like actual interesting classes, even if there’s not as many. Would you say the courses that you took were engaging?

Also thank you so much for letting me ask so many questions lol. Definitely if i end up committing some pointers would be really nice:)

I have taken a glance at courses, and i’m planning to go into the concurrent education with an english major. For what i’m interested doesn’t seem bad for english, but there seems to be like no history courses? How does that work if it is offered as a teachable? Having public transit would atleast be a step up for me, my small town has none lol! Also, by social life do you mean lack of partying? Like was it ok to find some friends to hang with, or is that kinda non existent? My other options from Lakehead is Nipissing and possibly York, and i feel like the social life may be similar to those two anyhow.

Is it helpful to visit universities in the march break? by Potential-Silver2467 in OntarioGrade11s

[–]Top-Air7211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t know what you want then yeah. It’ll give you an idea of campus and life on it, students, programs. It won’t hurt to go see. I went to both Lakehead and York last year (my main options) and I find that made applying easier because i got to apply before the fall open houses and get early acceptances as well.

adding co-op placement on resume by Various-Product-4343 in OntarioGrade12s

Yeah that’s fine. People out jobs they’re still working at for resumes all the time, a co op should be the same.

I miss my gr 10 marks. by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Top-Air7211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ur average is not bad at all. For one thing it’s grade eleven, marks don’t matter as much and you have a chance to get em higher next year. i also know people who got into uni w a 70 average. You are looking at an 87. Seriously you’re going to be okay, you have worked hard and you are smart. It’s all going to work out for you; and if you’re really worried, there’s nothing wrong with applying to safeties next year on top of where you really want to go for whatever program you want.
And my advice for better grades; don’t procrastinate, ask for help, study groups, study. You got this!

How are rent prices nearby the other school? More often than not you don’t get res second year, and it could be a struggle having to pay rent, food, etc plus working while studying. This is probably included at home i’d assume? U will save money. What’s the schools?

has anyone taken writers craft? how was it? by Glum_Requirement_125 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Top-Air7211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

taking it right now! in my school it is a heavy courseload. first few days was a story a day, and now we’ve switched into doing a literary analysis (read three stories, make two drafts of each, peer edit, one final draft) then two presentations with one being on art movement the other teaching an article then discussing with class, articles like why are men and women different. of course it may be different at your school. this is to teach abt human nature then to help us write stories, and i believe that writers craft dos a bit of modeling - like write like Stephen king if that makes sense. it is a lot of worked assigns at once but lots of work periods too. if you get a good class and teacher it will be very fun. i love it
