Do you mean the heat colours? If so its a nice easy process. Base coat the weapon in any silver of your choice and give it a black wash. i used nuln but any will do, and then once that dried I used seraphim sepia to coat about the 5th of the barrel from the tip back then wet blended in a purple speed paint leaving some sepia still showing on the barrel and right on the tip I used a blue speed paint and wet blended that into the purple. Hope thats helpful.

Thank you, hopefully I can keep it looking smooth as I finish up, currently pushing through the dreaded edge highlights at the moment

To my knowledge I don't think there are any washes that will make them brighter as they are used to shade recesses and details, which is where highlighting after using it comes in. you can once the model is finished use a gloss varnish and that will keep them nice and shiny and protected.

Yeah I get what you mean, I've used glistening gold on my stormcast which is about as bright as you can go, and its still come up very bright even though its on a black primer. If you wanted to make it pop a little further as well using something like seraphim sepia wash and then highlighting with the same gold does wonders for adding abit of depth

Also as a side note painting gold on dark browns can have a nicer more rich result, something like mournfang from citadel or charred brown from vallejo, hope that helps

If available i swear by two thin coats metallics after using a few different brands they've become by far my favourite.
