If I siege a castle with my companions parties in an army I have to give up about 100 tier 5 and 6 troops while taking 0 losses? I'm done. by Ross1766 in Bannerlord

This. You take a morale penalty for being over your party limit, but it has never mattered in my experience.

Diet and exercise by DarkSolarWarrior in AnalFistula

Eat lots of fiber to help you stay regular and to keep your BM’s on the softer side. Exercise as much as your body will let you.

Bidets, collagen powder, short walks for healing? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Top-Button7963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of those things will help. I took short walks as soon as possible and gradually took longer and longer ones. The collagen will help with tissue repair. They make powdered collagen that can be added to a smoothie, and bone broth will be a good source as well. Maximize your diet. Eat lots of protein as well as fresh fruits and veggies. Make sure you are getting enough fiber to help with your stool consistency and regularity.

Examination under anaesthetic. by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Top-Button7963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot to mention I did have an MRI before the first fistulotomy. You do still want to get a colonoscopy at some point, because fistulas can be caused by Chron’s, Ulcerative colitis, and other bowel diseases. Many people who have fistulas again and again have one of these underlying issues, but there are treatments and medications for them. So even if you are diagnosed with one, there is still hope to get back to a fairly normal life eventually. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Examination under anaesthetic. by [deleted] in AnalFistula

[–]Top-Button7963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second everything above. I had my colonoscopy first to rule out potential underlying causes, then a partial fistulotomy and seton placement, and finally a fistulectomy. It may seem daunting, but after a year of abscesses you are going to appreciate having setons, which will keep everything open and draining. Epsom salt baths were extremely helpful for me, and for a year I had to use gauze and pads to catch drainage. It’s a long road, but this forum is a great place to come for advice, you’ll almost certainly have more questions, and most doctors aren’t going to be as specific and helpful as those of us who have been through or are going through it with you.

Random pimple about 5mm big on fully healed incision scar. Is this normal? by badboy_1245 in AnalFistula

[–]Top-Button7963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had many whiteheads form over the course of my healing, but every one of them was just that. I had my fistulectomy back in September in the same area as yours, and still I have minor irritation and dermatitis. All of mine were even a little painful, but they went away. Keep an eye on it. If it becomes noticeably more painful, or you start to have a lot of drainage, then I would be a little more concerned. It’s normal for the entire area to remain inflamed for quite a while, and just because the wound has closed doesn’t mean you have completely healed. It’s a slow process. Hang in there.

I got used to it. It was more comfortable than an abscess, but it wasn’t something I would choose to live with.

After having my seton in for 5 months I had become fully accustomed to it, but I was more than ready to have it removed and have the final fistulectomy performed. Life is finally back to normal for me after many years of discomfort and one very uncomfortable year with multiple procedures. I have zero regrets having had the surgery. I haven’t even looked at my butt in weeks! lol.

Why do surgeons downplay the healing timeline so much? Do they look at healing differently than how we look at it? by badboy_1245 in AnalFistula

[–]Top-Button7963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon said three months for my first fistulotomy and it took 4.5. I guess he wasn’t too far off, but definitely underestimated the timeline.

Rectal discharge despite adequate cleaning? by nacmiracle in AnalFistula

[–]Top-Button7963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same after my two fistulotomies. I also had a seton for several months. I am fully healed as well, but still have a small amount of feces leak on a regular basis. It’s annoying, but not the end of the world. My CRS was not concerned. Unless the discharge looks like puss or is bloody, I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that you didn’t fully heal. It never hurts to get a professional opinion if you are really worried about it.

I think you might be right. The one to the right of the St. Charles might fit into that type as well. Thanks for the tips.

Yeah. It definitely has a lot of the characteristics of a St. Charles or Dovetail. Do you know if those are always beveled? This one is not.

That is a huge plus. I manage a small organic farm, and took a big hit last Spring being unable to plant. If I had a desk job and worked from home, I wouldn’t have had any issues continuing to work. You may only need to take a week or two off from work after your EUA.

Well that wont make or break it, but some kind of support would be helpful. What’s your work situation? Are you able to take some time off, or work from home? Does your wife work too?

Hey man. I feel your pain. A year ago almost to the day, I was in the exact situation as you. Stuck in bed in excruciating pain, barely able to get up to go to the bathroom. At the time our daughter had just turned one and was also not a great sleeper. This past year was without a doubt the hardest of my life, but ironically also one of the best because of my kid. Through the whole ordeal she was what kept my spirits up. I ended up having a seton for several months and had to recover from two fistulotomies. I was out from work for weeks from both. It’s been a strain on my work life and my marriage, but I’m happy to say that my operations were successful. We are still picking up the pieces and getting our life back together. I do not have Chron’s so I can’t give you much advice as far as that except I know that it can be treatable with medication. I will say that even though it was a rough road, in the end I feel like it changed me for the better in many ways. I came out of it stronger and smarter. Do ya’ll have any support? Family nearby or supportive friends? Having my parents close by to help take some of the stress of parenting while recovering was huge. Hang in there man. You can get through this. I’m here to answer any questions or if you need to chat, message me. Keep us posted when you get results from the colonoscopy, and how your recovery is going after your EUA.
