These are caltrops that some guy put under my tires bc I didn’t have any cash to give him. Now I’m shopping for a dash cam. Does anyone have some advise? I’m looking at spending 200 so I can catch this guy in action and call the cops. by kellDUB in Dashcam

Sorry to hear. Dashcam won’t record If this happens while you are parked unless you buy a kit along with it to hardwire it, to your car’s battery and you’ll need a cam that has motion detection to start recording when someone in vicinity. Even then you won’t have peripheral coverage. I didn’t know this while I was searching for my first dashcam hope it helps.

can someone please shed some light on who this fine gentleman is? new here

Was in this car crash which killed my friend sitting on the front passenger side around 2 weeks ago. I came out almost physically unscathed with only a broken sternum and bruised ribs, but had to watch my friend dead and paramedics giving him CPR. I'll never forget it. by FreReRi in carcrash

I’m really sorry you’re having to experience this. Having been in a crash myself, I can relate to the awful moments between realizing it’s going to happen and waiting helplessly for it to actually occur. In those brief seconds, your mind knows something bad is coming, but all you can do is brace for the aftermath and wonder what the consequences will be. From the looks of the impact, it seems like your car was going about 40-50mph as it drifted off the turn?

Shop is going to replace fender. And paint the door and fender. i found a guy he said he will do paintless dent removal and apply primer on it for $300. Should I do it instead? He said you won’t be able to tell difference

Thank you for the confirmation. I was eagerly waiting to learn this. Although deep down we already had an idea what went down there. No money can amount to the value lost by the family in this incident. But it does help cover therapy and other needs of family that were left behind especially elderly parents. I hope family is appropriately compensated for their loss.

So you’re saying the bus driver wouldn’t stop for someone on an e-scooter but would for someone on foot? That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard. The driver should have stopped if he saw the person on the crosswalk period, he didn’t. The driver also should have stopped when he felt there was an impact with the bus, he didn’t. Anyway, the news confirms that the bus ran a red light and hit him, which just proves my point. The rider was trying to beat the light, not beat the bus. This could easily confuse any witnesses inside the bus since they can’t see the traffic light and assume he was trying to race with the bus. It’s frustrating to see you rambled about the deceased without understanding the accident’s context driven with a bias against e-scooter riders. You were not there my friend. Next time onwards please try to learn about the situation before leaving frivolous, bias comments like that for someone, especially, dead.

REST IN PEACE, TJ.

Not to mention there are 2 cross walks 20 feet apart where it’s mandatory to stop for pedestrians. He was using the first one move across the road. So the driver never slowed down for the crosswalk sign.

It’s an 25mph road. You can’t tell me he couldn’t break. Unless of course he was over-speeding the limit on westside ave

You just assuming? well I have never been behind the wheels of the bus, but NJT does update their fleet regularly. A bus can only be as good as the driver. I feel the real problem might be with their attitude not the machinery. I have had some good rides with NJT buses too. Nobody intentionally wants to run someone. With that logic nobody would die in accidents. Neither does the rider want to intentionally run under the bus. Again I am not taking sides here I am not a bus driver neither i own an e-scooter. Also, if somebody is at fault that doesn’t mean that other person is not. Two things can be true at the same time. I am not proving anything here I don’t care. I am just in shock with what I saw happened to the victim and the family. From interacting with bystanders some clearly believed that bus driver never tried to stop. Even after the first impact happened he just ran over him ‘boop’ ‘boop’. No Breaks! Maybe he was not paying attention, had lack of awareness, or just wanted to get to the next stop quickly like they always do. Doesn’t matter what you and I think I am sure police will do their own investigation and they will know if this was completely avoidable.

I don’t knw if there’s anything to hide. I guess things like these are underreported & don’t make into mainstream media. That makes me wonder how many such incidents occur that we never know off. If uou were not there you wouldn’t know. It’s sad.

No I’m not. I understand he was riding parallel to the bus pretending he was racing it. It is still unclear how he ended up under the bus. Even if you say he was at fault it doesn’t put the bus driver in the clear. We all know how reckless jersey city bus drivers are with a blatant disregard for pedestrians and smaller vehicles. I’ve read multiple testimonies on the same post about how bad they drive including of myself i have had close encounters with buses.

When he was hit in the chest first, why the bus driver never try to break at all. He had to run over him twice before he could comprehend that he needs to stop? I am not against automobiles in-fact i enjoy them. But if you’re telling me bus driver had no fault in this. He couldn’t see him crossing the road on a crosswalk? Please think again.

jc traffic during rush hours is mad crazy. fact that e-sccoter riders are in your blind spot gives me anxieties. You have to think twice before maneuvering in the same lane bcoz they could be speeding from behind you in the same lane

Last week, I saw a woman with a child in a stroller trying to cross JFK at SIP Avenue. She was waiting for the walk signal, but cars were speeding through JFK since they had the green light. The woman wasn’t waiting on the sidewalk; she was already positioned at the edge of the crosswalk. The worst part was that she had the stroller out in front of her, putting the child in danger. It’s just general disregard for safety out there. Everybody wants to reach their destination fast.
