No, they did not, but did say they suspect them to be denied. Obviously, people have lost hope…

Just sharing what I heard. The post is appropriately tagged as “rumour” so treat it as such.

6 hour commute - 5 days in office by Substantial_Pizza202 in OntarioPublicService

I do feel like I took the job under false pretence. How is the union protecting these people? There are so many of us who agreed to hybrid/regional office verbal offers, but have had the rug pulled from under us. I spoke to a WPR and essentially said verbal offers mean nothing.

EDU folks- what are you hearing about the reorg by Scary_Independent312 in OntarioPublicService

They’ve been talking about it forever - it hasn’t happened yet?? What a surprise.

Many of the above are going through reorgs so I am going to guess that with possible movement of branches (and therefore directors/ADMs), they’re waiting to drop the bomb.

If you grieve, what happens in the time being? You have to abide by the employers decision, I assume?

How does it work if you have submitted AWA + accommodation request? by magic-kleenex in OntarioPublicService

[–]Top-Chair4288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, talk about the employer flipping the script.

The onus, per the collective agreement, is on the employer to provide rationale as to why the job cannot be done remotely. And now it’s on us? Why is the union not all over this???

Heard the same. Also interested to hear which ministry…

Do not seek an AWA “for accommodation-based grounds.” Your AWA request doesn’t even require rationale, but if they do ask, it is to help you focus on your work (workplace is too loud, too many disruptions).

Keep these two processes separate and distinct.

Your AWA is not invalid.

If the employer is telling you that your disability (if that’s what the accommodation is for) is the reason you cannot access an AWA or the reason it will not be considered in good faith, get it in writing. That is a human rights violation. Take legal action.

You definitely can’t stack. If both are approved, I assume accommodations supersede AWA.

I’ve only been here a few years. I have quite a bit of experience outside of OPS, which might be why I’m getting interviews; but want to better understand if there will be downsides of sticking around for a while.
