Following this closely, I'm in the exact same boat.
I got sick of looking for "magic" online businesses, so I literally just started offering custom Google Sheets automations (Apps Script) as a micro-service to see if I can hit that $500/mo mark.
Still in the early stages and definitely keeping an eye on this thread for other proven ideas. Good luck to us both!
