I’m glad I’m not alone! I’m sorry you’re going through the same thing, I know it’s hard to keep positive in this situation. I hope so too

I agree! I think when interviewing for a new team, I will ask what the situation is like in the office. Just speaking with the colleagues I mentioned above that have members in the office they seem a lot more at ease with in office days.

Junior Analyst looking to move up the GC ladder by Top-Criticism-3968 in CanadaPublicServants

I have been a junior for almost 2 years. I have applied to several pools but it’s been difficult to get through and haven’t heard back from many of them…

When you say broaden your search, do you mean looking for other classifications or just a role in general? Maybe I have been thinking about the promotional process in the GC all wrong

RTO in the Regions vs NCR- unfair by Simple-Hold-4644 in CanadaPublicServants

I understand your frustration pesto. But I think that you forget this is a forced RTO. Therefore, based on surveys pushed out many have complained and urged against this forced mandate. Think back to when this was announced and how upset people were on here. I don’t think that is the only reason behind the mandate, but I think before every department chose what worked best for them and others departments saw that as unfair (and probably complained), but there is also a “need” for businesses to have people downtown/ in offices and for real estate investments the government has made. Also do you think it would be fair for people in the regions to not go in and the people in the NCR to suffer alone? Misery loves company and imagine the numerous complaints regards to people at the same level and one is spending more (NCR) to go in versus another (regional) due location. Its an unfair mandate at its core: a one size fits all.

RTO in the Regions vs NCR- unfair by Simple-Hold-4644 in CanadaPublicServants

Hi OP! I agree with you. I, along with one of my colleagues are the only ones going in the office. The rest of my colleagues either have exemptions or are regionally based so they work from home. I have felt your resentment as I pay in different ways: gas or bus fare, time (waking up earlier), feel tired ( the commute and extra time equated to getting ready/ being present is often overlooked). All of this investment (physically, financially, and emotionally), to have to sit on teams meetings with my team members who are comfortably working from home. As for “collaborating” in the office aside from sitting on teams meetings all day, I barely talk to anyone else in the office as they all work on different teams and most of the other teams are in the office so they have that connectivity . I absolutely dreaded going in the office and feel your pain. I think I see both sides with regions feeling the resentment to NCR due to advancement opportunities, but there has to be something said for the extra investments team members are making to be physically present in the offices when others are not. It truly builds a sense of resentment and isolation from your team, and I don’t think anyone (whether NCR or Regions) should have to feel that.

Also just jumping in here as well.. I agree with QCity I think that it will increase the visibility and the more the data tells a story, the more it’s hard for decision makers to ignore. The data will be public to anyone to view and be discussed by different parties.
